System and method for identifying healthcare assets
A system for identifying healthcare assets includes a set of tags configured to communicate with one another, the set of tags including a root tag configured to transmit an asset identifier identifying the healthcare asset and a plurality of component tags each configured to transmit a component identifier identifying a component of the healthcare asset. A receiver system is configured to receive the asset identifier and the plurality of component identifiers from the set of tags and to automatically generate a bill of materials (BOM) for the healthcare asset based on the asset identifier and the plurality of component identifiers.
Veterinary Thermometer and Method of Managing Animal Health Considering Ambient Temperature and Humidity Conditions
The invention includes a wireless multifunction veterinary thermometer device that communicates with a mobile communication device running an app for recording animal temperature data and to display animal treatment options considering the recorded data and ambient weather conditions. Treatment options may be determined by logic programmed within the app or by another computer program associated with a remote server and database. Data transfer takes place between the mobile device and the remote server/database. A heat stress indicator is displayed for the user. If the indicator represents a high heat stress level, the app logic or remote computer program may automatically generate a recommended treatment option, or the user may determine an appropriate treatment.
Secure smart dosing system with automated delivery, measurement, and management for pills
A smart dosing device includes: a supply pathway having a compartment that is able to house multiple discrete doses of a substance; at least one sensor that captures identifying information related to the substance; a wireless communication module; and at least one security feature that restricts use of the smart dosing device. A method of providing a measured dose using a smart dosing device includes: retrieving a discrete dose from a storage cavity of the smart dosing device; and providing the discrete dose via an outlet port of the device. A smart dosing system includes: a smart dosing device having a unique identifier, the smart dosing device including a cartridge housing multiple discrete doses of a substance, the cartridge having a unique cartridge identifier; and a server including a central database that stores usage information related to the smart dosing device including the unique identifier and the unique cartridge identifier.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE CONDITION OF AN ARTICLE
A system and method for determining whether an article is new or used; and if used, the extent of usage. A smart tag, or smart tag, integrates into the article. The smart tag has integrated therein, data, which related to the article. A tag reader communicates a query to the smart tag to obtain the data. A non-volatile memory contains the item manufacturer, a serial number, and an item identity. A one-time-activation circuit determines if the article is ‘NEW’ or ‘USED’. A sensing element contains a ‘wakeup’ process to respond to a query, or, to monitor and log usage. Usage is categorized to a density, a sequence, an interval, and an amplitude algorithm of movement as being representative of the scale of usage. This data stores in the non-volatile memory. A tag reader, or tag reader queries the smart tag to access the logged data.
Smart card with active directional indicia and methods of use thereof
A smart card includes a plurality of display devices on an outside surface of a housing. Circuitry within the housing includes a processor, and communication circuitry configured to communicate with at least one computing device located within a geographic region around the smart card. The processor is configured to continuously receive a plurality of communication signals from the computing device, to continuously assess a geographic distance from the smart card to the fixed position of the computing device within the geographic region using the plurality of communication signals, to continuously activate or deactivate the plurality of display devices based on the geographic distance from the smart card to the fixed position of the computing device in the geographic region for providing a user with a directional indication, distance indication, or both, to the computing device in the geographic region.
Method, apparatus, and system for performing wireless transactions with biometric authentication
An apparatus, system and methodology for conducting financial and other transactions using a wireless device are provided. A computing device includes a memory device that has stored therein a wallet application for completing transactions based on wireless data communications between the computing device and an external electronic device. The memory device further stores an electronic credential. The computing device includes a wireless transceiver configured to wirelessly communicate with the external electronic device. The computing device further includes a biometric characteristic reader for reading a biometric characteristic of a user. The computing device wirelessly transmits the electronic credential to the external electronic device based on comparing the biometric characteristic of the user with stored biometric information to initiate a transaction with the external electronic device.
Location-Based Configuration of a Load Control Device
A method of automatically programming a new load control device that replaces an old load control device takes advantage of a remote identification tag (e.g., an RFID tag) located in the vicinity of the old device. The remote identification tag stores an identifier that is representative of a location in which the old device is installed. The method includes the steps of: (1) storing a setting of an old device in a memory of a controller; (2) associating the setting with the identifier of the old device in the memory of the controller; (3) the new device retrieving the identifier from the remote identification tag after the new device is installed in the location of the old device; (4) the new device transmitting the identifier to the controller; and (5) the controller transmitting the setting of the old device to the new device in response to receiving the identifier.
IDENTIFYING A SPECIALLY DESIGNATED OBJECT TO FACILITATE DYNAMIC PROMOTIONS RELATED TO USE OF THE OBJECT
In accordance with some embodiments, a physical game element such as a wagering chip or a playing card may be utilized to implement a promotion scheme on an electronic card table (e.g., using RFID or optical imaging technology). During a game it may be determined whether the element is associated with special functionality (e.g., entitles the player to a payout multiplier, special payout table, bonus prize or other benefit). The special functionality may have been previously associated with the element or associated with the element during the game (e.g., dynamically and/or randomly). In accordance with some embodiments a player is not able to readily discern the special functionality by a physical inspection of the physical game element and is only notified of the special functionality once the physical game element is used in a qualifying action (e.g., during a wager at an electronic card table).
TOOLING SYSTEM
A tooling system may comprise a device configured to communicate with an identifier of a machine tool and a tool database having tool information including a predefined proximity associated with the identifier. The device may be configured to automatically activate, without a user-initiated scan, communication with at least one of the machine tool and the tool database in response to the identifier being within the predefined proximity. The device may also be configured to transfer tool information of the machine tool with respect to the tool database.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FACILITATING SHOPPING AND PURCHASING USING AN IDENTITY TAG
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for facilitating shopping and purchasing. The systems and methods for facilitating shopping and purchasing use an identity tag as an item tracker and/or a transaction enabler.
