A modular off-platter detection assembly for use with a barcode reader includes a housing, a first light source, a first light sensor, and a controller operatively coupled to the first light source and the first light sensor. The housing is configured to be removably mounted to the barcode reader, a frame supporting the barcode reader, or the workstation. The first light source is positioned within the housing and emits a first light along a first lateral edge of a weigh platter. The first light sensor is positioned within the housing, has a first field-of-view along the first lateral edge, and is configured to detect at least a portion of the first light reflected towards the housing. The controller is configured to provide a first alert in response to receipt of a first value from the first light sensor indicating there is an object extending across the first lateral edge.
BARCODE READER WITH OFF-PLATTER DETECTION
A barcode reader has a housing, weigh platter, and off-platter detection assembly including first and second imaging assemblies in communication with a controller. The first imaging assembly has a first imager configured to capture an image of a first lateral edge of the weigh platter. The second imaging assembly has a second imager configured to capture an image of a second lateral edge of the weigh platter. The controller is configured to: identify and locate the first and second lateral edges; receive first and second images from the imagers; allow the weight of an object to be recorded if determined that a footprint of the object does not extend over the first or second lateral edges; and prevent the weight of the object from being recorded and/or providing an alert to a user if determined that the footprint of the object does extend over the first or second lateral edges.

BARCODE READER WITH OFF-PLATTER DETECTION
A barcode reader has a weigh platter and an off-platter detection assembly. The weigh platter is configured to measure a weight of an object and has a surface extending in a first transverse plane, a proximal edge, a first lateral edge extending non-parallel to the proximal edge, and a distal edge. The off-platter detection assembly includes a light emission assembly and a light detection assembly. The light emission assembly is configured to emit a collimated light beam along the first lateral edge, above the surface. The light diffusing barrier is positioned in a path of the collimated light beam and is configured to diffuse the light beam such that the light diffusing barrier appears to be illuminated when contacted by the light beam and appears not to be illuminated when not contacted by the light beam.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRESENTING GRAPHIC CODES
The present application provides a method and apparatus for presenting a graphic code. The method includes: after detecting that a graphic code page is invoked, starting a front-facing image capture module of a current device to perform image capturing; performing image recognition on a captured image, and if the captured image includes a pre-configured feature of a code scanning module, calculating an offset distance between the code scanning module and a current presentation location of a graphic code; and calculating a target presentation location based on the offset distance, and presenting the graphic code at the target presentation location. Based on the method provided in the present application, a location of a graphic code can be adapted automatically, and a user does not need to perform alignment, thereby improving user experience.
Method and apparatus for detecting a security thread in a value document
A method is described for detecting a security thread in a value document, in which magnetic data are employed for sites on the value document, said magnetic data representing a magnetic property of the value document at the site, check sites on the value document are determined employing the sites, and from the check sites, a straight line is specified, along or on which at least some of the check sites lie and which represents a location of the security thread.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INSPECTING AN ARTICLE OF MANUFACTURE USING AN IMAGE PROFILE
A manufacturing cell for manufacturing a vehicle component can include an intelligent actuator, a pneumatic rotational cylinder, an arm, a laser scanner, and a controller. The arm can extend downward from the intelligent actuator to the pneumatic rotational cylinder. The laser scanner can be attached to the pneumatic rotational cylinder for movement with the pneumatic rotational cylinder. The laser scanner configured to scan at least a first object and a second object, and create profile data indicative of a 3D profile of the first object and the second object. The controller can be configured to assure that the second object is in a positive condition by using the profile data to determine the positive condition for the second object if the tolerance distance lies within a set range, and determine a flagged condition for the second object if the tolerance distance lies outside the set range.
