LOW HEIGHT PROXIMITY-BASED OPTICAL CODE READER
A system for optically reading an encoded pattern on a patterned test strip or other patterned target placed in proximity and moved with respect to an optical code reader. The reader can include an LED light source. A transmit baffle located between the LED light source and the target can define a transmit aperture for passing light originating from the LED light source to a target location on the patterned target. A photodetector arranged to receive light associated with the target location can produce a response signal providing information about the encoded pattern at the target location. A receive baffle located between the photodetector and the target can define a receive aperture for passing light from the target to the photodetector. Signal processing circuitry can be coupled to the photodetector to receive the response signal, and to decode information about the encoded pattern.
Using Distance Sensor Delta to Determine When to Enter Presentation Mode
An apparatus includes a distance sensor, an image sensor, one or more processors, and memory. The memory stores one or more programs configured for execution by the one or more processors. The apparatus measures a baseline depth. The apparatus measures a first depth subsequent to measuring the baseline depth. The apparatus determines that the first depth is different from the baseline depth. In response to the determination, the apparatus activates a read cycle. Subsequent to activating the read cycle, the apparatus measures a second depth. The apparatus detects that the second depth is within a threshold range of the baseline depth. In response to the detection, the apparatus deactivates the read cycle.
Symbology or Frame Rate Changes Based on Target Distance
An apparatus includes a distance sensor, an image sensor, one or more processors, and memory coupled to the one or more processors. The apparatus determines, via the distance sensor, a distance between an object and the apparatus. In accordance with a determination that the distance between the object and the apparatus is within a first distance range of a plurality of predefined distance ranges, the apparatus identifies a subset of symbology types, from a plurality of predefined symbology types, corresponding to the first distance range. The apparatus acquires one or more images of the object. The apparatus decodes the one or more images based on the identified subset of symbology types.
SCAN CRUTCH
A scanning system is providing including a scanner and a scan crutch. The scanner includes a housing, a window in an upper end of the housing, and a light emitter/receiver in the housing under the window. The scan crutch is attached to the scanner and includes a base and a protrusion extending from the base in a direction away from the scanner. The protrusion of the scan crutch ensures accurate and repeatable scanning of target objects by allowing a user to quickly position the scanner at an optimum distance from a target object by contacting the target object with the protrusion of the scan crutch.
Method and Apparatus for Detecting a Security Thread in a Value Document
A method is described for detecting a security thread in a value document, in which magnetic data are employed for sites on the value document, said magnetic data representing a magnetic property of the value document at the site, check sites on the value document are determined employing the sites, and from the check sites, a straight line is specified, along or on which at least some of the check sites lie and which represents a location of the security thread.
DISPLAY WITH INTEGRATED CAMERAS
A display includes two-integrated cameras. A first camera is situated in a top right corner of a front display surface of the display and a second camera is situated in a top left corner of the front display surface. The display is connected to a transaction terminal with the first camera focused on a bagging area associated with the transaction terminal and with the second camera focused on a staging area associated with the transaction terminal. Each camera captures images of items and the item images are streamed over a high-speed display port directly to the transaction terminal. The transaction terminal performs item recognition, item tracking, and auditing on the items based the item images during transaction processing at the transaction terminal.
Methods and systems of cuboidal container dimension measurement with transmitter and receiver devices
A cuboidal container measurement system for cuboidal box dimension measurement, the (CCM) system a transmitter (Tx) unit and a receiver (Rx) unit. The (Tx) unit includes a barcode, a Tx infrared communication system, and an Rx infrared communication system. The system further includes a wireless system, a Tx proximity sensor, a first laser rangefinder system that emits a laser to the Rx unit when the Tx unit is placed on a second edge of the cuboidal box, wherein the first laser rangefinder system measures a distance between the Tx unit and the Rx unit, a second laser rangefinder system that receives the laser from the Tx unit and emits a laser pointing down to the surface supporting the cuboidal box, and an Rx infrared communication system that wirelessly communicates a set of cuboidal box dimensional measurements made by the second laser rangefinder system to the Tx unit.
Tag with tunable retro-reflectors
A data readout device is provided and includes a reflective base, reflective sidewalls disposed about the reflective base and an actuation system. The actuation system is configured to modify relative positioning of one of the reflective base and the reflective sidewalls to either reflect incoming radiation back toward an origin thereof or to reflect the incoming radiation away from the origin thereof.
INDICIA READING DEVICE AND METHODS FOR DECODING DECODABLE INDICIA EMPLOYING STEREOSCOPIC IMAGING
An indicia reading device for decoding decodable indicia includes an illumination subsystem, an aimer subsystem, an imaging subsystem, a memory, and a processor. The illumination subsystem is operative for projecting an illumination pattern. The aimer subsystem is operative for projecting an aiming pattern. The imaging subsystem includes a stereoscopic imager. The memory is in communication with the stereoscopic imager and is capable of storing frames of image data representing light incident on the stereoscopic imager. The processor is in communication with the memory and is operative to decode a decodable indicia represented in at least one of the frames of image data. The stereoscopic imager is configured to capture multiple images at a baseline distance apart to create three-dimensional images with depth information of the decodable indicia.
BARCODE READER
A barcode reader may perform image processing functions to generate distinct image data records from the frame of image data of a barcode, select an image data record from the distinct image data records and decode the selected image data record. Each image data record may be generated by applying a distinct image processing function to the frame of image data. The barcode reader may capture multiple frames of image data in sequence based on image capture parameters. At least one of the multiple frames of image data may be captured with a distinct parameter value. The image capture parameters may include an exposure setting, a gain setting, a resolution setting, and/or an illumination setting.
