Systems and methods for alerting users to device low battery states
Methods and systems for alerting a user to a device low battery state are disclosed herein. An example method includes receiving, at a charging station for a scanning device, a notification from the scanning device when the scanning device is not coupled to the charging station indicating that the scanning device has entered a low battery state. The scanning device may be communicatively coupled to the charging station by a wireless communication protocol. Further, the example method may include generating, by the charging station, an indication of the low battery state of the scanning device based upon the notification. The example method may also include displaying, by the charging station, the indication for a user.
Indicia reader acoustic for multiple mounting positions
An indicia reader can include an indicia-capturing system, an indicia-decoding module, and an audio indicator system having a sound source. An indicia-reader housing can support these components, and the housing includes two adjacent mounting surfaces and a sound port opening formed within a portion of the common edge of the two adjacent surfaces. The indicia reader can be operatively mounted in at least two different positions by attaching one of the two adjacent surfaces to a support structure. The reader's sound port opening is in acoustic communication with the sound source of the audio indicator for transmitting audible indications emitted via the audio indicator system when the indicia reader is mounted in either of the at least two different mounting positions.
INDUCTIVE AIMING TRIGGER
A handheld code reader may include a main structure, a handle extending from the main structure, and a trigger configured to be pulled by a finger of a user holding the handle. The code reader may further include a conductive element, an antenna configured to sense an inductive change caused by the trigger moving the conductive element, and electronics in electrical communication with the antenna, the electronics configured to determine when the inductive change is indicative of a user selecting to activate a pre-trigger aiming function.
Optical information reader manually handled by users
An optical information reader includes a main body portion in which a reading opening is formed; and a grip portion that is connected to a section of the main body portion other than a section in which the reading opening is formed, and is gripped by a user. The reader further includes a light-receiving sensor that captures an image of a predetermined imaging area AR through the reading opening; and a control circuit that performs an interpreting process of a code image of an information code imaged by the light-receiving sensor. An extending portion that extends towards the information code side is provided in a periphery of the reading opening. An opened portion is formed in a section of the extending portion other than a section on the grip portion side.
Overhead bin access by boarding pass
A boarding pass may include a barcode with an encoded seat identifier. An overhead storage system may include a barcode reader configured to read the barcode of the boarding pass. The system may determine whether the boarding pass is eligible to access an overhead bin based on the encoded seat identifier. Where the boarding pass is eligible, a signal may be sent to one or more actuators of the overhead bin. Thus, a user may selectively access the overhead bin by the boarding pass.
Systems and methods for scanner configuration based on focus of one or more host application screens
Systems and methods are described for implementing scanner configuration based on focus of one or more host application screens. Example systems and methods comprise detecting a focus event of an application (app) as executing on one or more processors. An active focus module (AFM) detects the focus event. The AFM or a scanner device is configured to receive data in a first data app format. Scan data is scanned by the scanner device and is formatted, at the AFM or at the scanner device, into app data having the data app format. The app data is then provided to the app.
SCANNING APPARATUS AND MODULAR POWER SOURCE
A scanning apparatus is provided that includes communications circuitry and a universal power interface configured to receive a removable power source connected thereto. The scanning apparatus includes a control system that can establish a first communication connection with the charging cradle in accordance with a normal mode, establish a second communication connection with the charging cradle in accordance with a low power mode, and determine a type of the removable power source connected to the scanning apparatus. In response to determining that a first type of removable power source is connected, suspend the second communication connection and use the first communication connection for transmitting data/information to the charging cradle, and in response to determining that a second type of removable power source is connected, suspend the first communication connection and use the second communication connection for transmitting data/information to the charging cradle.
Remote infrared ink reader and authenticator
Systems, methods, and apparatus for reading and authenticating an infrared mark made with infrared (IR) ink. The IR ink reader and authenticator system includes a visible projection subsystem, an optical block, an imaging subsystem, a processing and control subsystem, and at least one enclosure. The infrared ink reader and authenticator system is preferably operable to validate both the infrared mark made with the infrared ink and a visible mark. Data related to the infrared mark and the visible mark is stored in a database.
Wearable devices for courier processing and methods of use thereof
The disclosed embodiments include wearable devices and methods for performing courier services. In one implementation, the device includes a depth camera for detecting object depths in a field of view, a scanner for decoding visual codes, a speaker for producing audible sounds in response to an electrical signal, memory, and a processor. The processor may execute instructions to detect a scanning event based on a first signal received from the depth camera, determine a scan region associated with the scanning event, provide a second signal to the scanner causing the scanner to decode a visual code located within the scan region, generate scan data based on a third signal received from the scanner, and provide a fourth signal to the speaker causing the speaker to emit a notification sound. The wearable device may also capture signatures, dimension objects, and disable device functions based on time and place restrictions.
PORTABLE DEVICE COMBINING INDICIA SCAN AND CONTACTLESS TEMPERATURE FUNCTIONS
A scanning device includes: a motion sensor to detect motion imparted to the scanning device; a distance detector to determine a distance between the scanning device and a surface; an infrared detector to capture a temperature of the surface; an image sensor to capture an image of an indicia encoding data on the surface; and a processor configured to store the captured image and temperature, configured to operate the motion sensor to detect motion being imparted to the scanning device when in a low power state, and configured to transition the scanning device out of the low power state in response to such imparted motion by: operating the distance detector to determine the distance to the surface; and determining whether to operate the infrared detector to capture the temperature of the surface and whether to operate the image sensor to capture the image of the indicia, based on the distance.
