An individual who has had a limb amputation and wears a prosthetic limb on an amputated residual limb may have a difficult time adjusting the prosthetic limb discreetly in a public setting. Described herein are articles of clothing, access opening systems, clothing cuffs, or devices for securing a prosthetic limb to a residual limb fitted with the prosthetic limb and for providing access to the prosthetic limb discreetly without removing a substantial portion of the clothing.

Pump system

A prosthetic system includes first and second parts rotatable relative to one another about a joint. The first and second parts are adapted to form at least part of a weight bearing connection between a prosthetic foot and a socket. A pump system includes a pump mechanism operatively connected to the first and second parts. Rotation of the first part and/or the second part about the joint moves the pump mechanism between an original configuration in which the volume of a fluid chamber defined by the pump mechanism is zero or near-zero, and an expanded configuration in which the volume of the fluid chamber is increased.

Adjustment Mechanism for Prosthetic Socket

A prosthesis system for connection to a user's residual limb includes a socket defining a cavity to receive the residual limb. The system includes a cable laced about the socket. The cable has at least one portion that extends below a distal end of the socket. The system includes an adjustment mechanism coupled to the socket and disposed below the distal end of the socket. The adjustment mechanism is coupled to the at least one portion of the cable extending below the distal end of the socket. The adjustment mechanism is configured to adjust the tension in the cable for adjusting the fit between the socket and the residual limb. Also, the system includes a prosthetic extremity coupled to the socket and extending below the socket.

Various aspects of this disclosure relate to a prosthetic cover comprising an array of sensors, which transmit signals to an array of electrodes in a liner that fits over a residual limb of an amputee. Different interactions with the prosthetic cover cause different activation of the electrodes to transmit electrical current through different areas of the residual limb and modulate neurons differently within the residual limb.

Sensing strategies for health assessment of osseointegrated prostheses

A method and an osseointegrated prosthesis system having an osseointegrated prosthesis member are provided having a monitoring system operably coupled to the osseointegrated prosthesis member configured to quantitatively assess the osseointegration of the osseointegrated prosthesis member, a wave-generating element coupled to the osseointegrated prosthesis member and configured to output guided waves along the osseointegrated prosthesis member interrogating an interface between bone and the osseointegrated prosthesis member, and a sensing system configured to sense a condition of the interface between bone and the prosthesis.

Driving module and motion assistance apparatus including the same

A driving module may include a driving source configured to generate power, a gear train that includes a decelerating gear set configured to receive driving power from the driving source and a ring gear attached to one side of the gear train, and a rotary joint that includes at least one planetary gear configured to rotate in response to power received from an output end of the decelerating gear set and to revolve along the ring gear. The driving module may include one or more noise reducing members configured to mitigate noise produced based on interaction between one or more elements of the driving module. The driving module may be included in a motion assistance apparatus, where the driving module drives a module that supports a portion of a user body.

An adjustable prosthesis system for a residual limb includes: an adjustable outer shell having a bottom, an adjustable inner volume, and an adjustable inner shape; at least one closure component attached to the outer shell and adapted to adjust the width of the inner volume and/or inner shape; an inner liner adapted to receive the residual limb and to be inserted in the inner volume; and an adjustable connector having a proximal end adjustably connected to a distal end of the outer shell and adapted to provide concurrently for a plurality of directional adjustments and/or angular adjustments of a position of the distal end of the outer shell relative to the proximal end of the connector, a distal end of the connector adapted to connect to a prosthetic device, wherein adjustments of the width(s) and the connector provide for a custom-like fit of the prosthesis on the residual limb.

Frame module and motion assistance apparatus including the same

A frame module includes a frame configured to enclose a portion of a user, and at least one reinforcement belt of which both end portions are connected to both sides of the frame, thereby restricting a splaying level of the frame in a predetermined direction.
