The method includes receiving user input reflecting user content preferences for receiving desired content related to specific topics in lieu of standard advertising slots while watching playable media content via a set-top box. The method may further include receiving a request for playable media content and then retrieving desired content based on user content preferences. Thereafter, the method may include choosing non-intrusive advertising content and generating datagrams that include the desired content and the non-intrusive advertising content. The datagrams may be concatenated with the playable media content to generate displayable content. The display content may then be provided for displaying.

Source code is retrieved that includes patterns that can be matched to identify visual features of the model web page. Visual content information is provided to an advertising message generation service to construct advertising messages that include at least a portion of the identified visual features. Constructed advertising messages are received, including at least one modified advertising message that incorporates a user-selected image extracted from the model web page. The identified visual features of the model web page can include text format, text color, background color, images, and video sequences.

A context environment can be determined according to user data and third-party entity data. Services available to the user device can be selected according to the context environment, the user-defined access permissions and third-party defined instructions. Upon selecting the services, the services are provided to the client device and a connection between the client device and a third-party entity device can be established.

Systems and methods for generating a content item based on a difference between a user confidence score and a confidence score are disclosed. For example, a system generates for output a first content item. While the first content item is being outputted, the system receives user data via sensors of a device. The system determines a user confidence score based on the user data and metadata of the first content item. The user confidence score indicates a user's perceived probability of an event occurring in the future. The system calculates a prediction score which estimates the likelihood of the event occurring in the future. In response to determining that the difference between the user confidence score and the prediction score exceeds a threshold, the system selects a second content item related to the event and generates for output a recommendation comprising an identifier of the second content item.
