Access control system having automatic status update
A mobile electronic device receives a data signal with a lock identifier and a lock state designator when it is in radio range of the electronic lock. The mobile device generates a server message which comprises the lock identifier, the lock state designator and a device identifier. The mobile electronic device sends the server message to the data processing device which stores a state of the electronic lock based on an evaluation of the lock state designator. The data processing device generates a confirmation message which contains an electronic code to activate the electronic lock when the electronic lock is in an inactive state and the device identifier in the user file is assigned to the lock identifier and which contains a user message when the electronic lock is in the active state or the user has no access authorization to the access-restricted zone assigned to the electronic lock.
Access control via selective direct and indirect wireless communications
A system is described for controlling a locking system restricting physical access (e.g. a door lock). The locking system is accessed (e.g., actuated and monitored) via dual communication path types used by a mobile wireless communication device. The locking system includes an electro-mechanical access control security device, and a receiving unit controlling the electro-mechanical access control security device. The receiving unit is paired with the mobile wireless communication device for receiving input from the mobile wireless device for activating the electro-mechanical access control security device using both low energy and high energy operating modes. The mobile wireless device is configured to access the locking system via both direct BLUETOOTH and indirect mobile wireless data network communications. Moreover, the operating range of the receiving unit is extended by connections to networked devices operating BLUETOOTH 4+LE at a high power—extended range mode through the use of an amplifier stage.

The present invention relates to an electronic device and a method for controlling the electronic device, and the electronic device according to various embodiments of the present document comprises a processor, wherein the processor can: receive, via a communication circuit, at least one signal from an external electronic device having a smart key; perform verification with the external electronic device on the basis of the at least one signal; measure an angle at which the at least one signal has been received and/or a received signal strength indication (RSSI) thereof, on the basis of the result of the verification performed; identify the location of the external electronic device on the basis of the measured reception angle and/or RSSI of the at least one signal; and, based on the identified location of the external electronic device, control at least some components of the electronic device.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, APPARATUSES, AND DEVICES FOR CONTROLLING ACCESS TO AN ACCESS CONTROL LOCATION
A method for controlling access to a restricted resource is provided. The method may include receiving, by a cloud server, an identifier from a user device over a long range wireless channel Further, the method may include comparing the identifier with a plurality of identifiers registered with an access control device. Further, the method may include authenticating the user device based on the comparing and subsequently transmitting a code to the user device upon successful authenticating. Thereafter, the user device may transmit the code to the access control device over a short range wireless channel. Further, the access control device may be configured to provide access to the restricted resource based on receiving of the code. Further, the method may include transmitting the code to the access control device over a long range wireless channel so that the access control device may authenticate the user device.

In one form, the restricted area is a parking station. In one aspect, the system includes: a communication system; and a computer program executable by a mobile communication device configured to: receive one or more entry signals from the communication system when the entity approaches an entry point of a restricted area; transfer, to the communication system, an entry request; receive, from the communication system, authorisation data indicative of the entity being granted access to enter the restricted area by an access control system; receive one or more exit signals from the communication system when the entity approaches an exit point of the restricted area; and transfer, to the communication system, an exit request indicative of the authorisation data in order to exit the restricted area.
HOME MONITORING SYSTEM TRIGGERED RULES
In some implementations, a system can trigger an action to be performed at a property based on satisfaction of criteria related to location information and a connection status of a mobile computing device. Location information of the mobile computing device relative of a pre-defined geographic region including at least a portion of the property is initially obtained. A connection status of the mobile computing device for a short range wireless connection with a communication-enabled device within the property is then obtained. Criteria for an action at the property is then determined to be satisfied by the location information and the connection status of the mobile computing device. The action is finally triggered to be performed at the property in response to determining that criteria for the action is satisfied.
Mobile device tethering for vehicle systems based on variable time-of-flight and dead reckoning
Method and apparatus are disclosed for mobile device tethering for vehicle systems based on variable time-of-flight and dead reckoning. An example vehicle includes a communication module to communicate with a mobile device using multiple frequency bands and a body control module. The body control module at an interval, estimates a location of the mobile device relative to the vehicle based on time-of-flight measurements using one of the multiple frequency bands selected based on a previous location estimate. Between the intervals, the body control module tracks the location of the mobile device using dead reckoning. Additionally, the body control system controls a subsystem of the vehicle based on the location of the mobile device.
