EXPEDITED CHECKOUT SYSTEM THROUGH PORTABLE CHECKOUT UNITS
20170316656 · 2017-11-02 ·

An expedited checkout system allows a customer to generate a virtual shopping list on a client application operating on the customer's mobile device, and expedite checkout from a store using the client application. While shopping within a store, a customer can temporarily secure a mobile device to a portable checkout unit that is attached to a shopping cart. The portable checkout unit can receive item identifiers from an item scanner and transmits item identifiers to the customer's mobile device. The customer's mobile device generates a virtual shopping list of the items collected by the customer and, when the customer is ready to check out of the store, the customer can select a checkout option presented on the mobile device. In response to receiving the checkout selection, the mobile device initiates a checkout transaction to check out the customer from the store.

Reading apparatus, wireless tag reader, and code reader

A reading apparatus includes a wireless tag reader including an antenna and an antenna surface facing a first direction and through which the antenna emits a radio wave to read tag information from a wireless tag, and a code reader including an imaging unit and an imaging window facing the first direction and through which the imaging unit acquires an image to read a code. The code reader further includes a grip detachably connected to the wireless tag reader.

REGISTRY VERIFICATION FOR A MECHANIZED STORE
20170309136 · 2017-10-26 ·

Registry verification is used in a mechanized store. A camera is used to count a first number of items taken by a user. The items are scanned to determine a second number of items. The first number of items is compared to the second number of items to reduce a likelihood of errors.

Point of sale payment method
09799067 · 2017-10-24 · ·

The present disclosure describes making a payment transaction between a customer and a merchant using a payment card of the customer including: transmitting details of the payment transaction from a mobile device to a remote server; capturing at least one image of the payment card using the mobile device of the merchant; transmitting the at least one image of the payment card to the remote server; identifying, by the remote server, the merchant and the payment card captured in the at least one image; and implementing the payment transaction between bank accounts of the customer and the merchant.

READING DEVICE, COMMODITY DATA REGISTRATION SYSTEM, AND PROGRAM

A reading device according to an embodiment includes a scanner configured to read code information indicated by a code symbol, a holder configured to detachably hold the scanner, a detecting unit configured to detect a first state in which the scanner is held by the holder and a second state in which the scanner is detached from the holder, and a setting-condition changing unit configured to, if the detecting unit detects the second state, set setting conditions relating to the reading by the scanner such that a reading distance of the scanner is shorter than the reading distance in the first state.

Information Reading Apparatus
20170278361 · 2017-09-28 · ·

An information reading apparatus is provided. The information reading apparatus enables stable contactless communication with a contactless communication medium even when the apparatus includes a display device for displaying information associated with reading results, in addition to an information reading device and a contactless communication device. The information stored in the contactless communication medium held over a reading surface is read by the contactless communication device according to transmission/reception of electromagnetic waves via an antenna. The reading surface includes a reading port on the inside of the antenna in plan view of the reading surface, and includes a mark arranged not to overlap the antenna.

System for Tracking Physical Objects

Described in detail herein are systems and methods for determining in situ locations of physical objects using mobile devices within a facility. Multiple mobile devices may scan different identifiers of different physical objects disposed in a facility. The mobile devices may transmit the identifiers to a distributed computing system. The distributed computing system may query a database to determine the in situ location of the physical objects associated with the identifiers. In response to not being able to retrieve a in situ location of a physical object, the distributed computing system may determine a path of the mobile device which transmitted the identifier associated with the physical object with the unknown in situ location. The distributed computing system may determine the in situ location of the physical object for which the in situ location was unknown based on the path and the known locations of the other physical objects.

REGISTER SYSTEM CAPABLE OF DISABLING SECURITY TAGS
20170249616 · 2017-08-31 ·

A register system includes a first code scanner that includes a circuit configured to disable a security tag, a second code scanner that does not include the circuit, a data storage in which a product code is stored in association with a flag, for each product registered for sale, and a processor. The processor is configured to carry out purchase registration of a product based on a product code obtained through the second code scanner or cause a notification to be generated without carrying out the purchase registration of the product based on the product code obtained through the second code scanner, depending on a state of a flag associated with the obtained product code in the data storage.

Systems and methods for purchasing products from a retail establishment using a mobile device

Techniques for purchasing products from a retail establishment using a mobile device allow a user to transact a purchase of physical products within a retail establishment site, without need for significant interaction with personnel of the retail establishment to transact the purchase. The user may install a software application on the mobile device to communicate with a purchase facilitating server. An image acquisition component of the mobile device may be used to obtain an image of indicia, such as a bar code, on a product to be purchased within the retail establishment. Image recognition may be performed on the indicia to identify the product to be purchased, the user may submit payment information via the mobile device, and the purchase facilitating server may transact the user's purchase of the product. The purchase facilitating server may transmit a purchase confirmation to the mobile device as a receipt of the user's purchase.

System, method, and apparatus for conducting a secure transaction using a remote point-of-sale system

Provided is a computer-implemented method for conducting a secure payment transaction for a purchase at a merchant using a client device and a remote point-of-sale (POS) system associated with the merchant. The method includes receiving, with a client device, at least one identifier for at least one product to be purchased, the at least one product associated with a transaction value, and detecting a checkout action with the client device. In response to detecting the checkout action, the method includes generating at least one transaction message based on the transaction value of the at least one item to be purchased and at least one account identifier, generating a cryptogram based at least partially on the at least one transaction message and the at least one issuer key, and transmitting the cryptogram to the remote POS system associated with the merchant. A system and computer program product are also disclosed.
