Urine Collection Bag Assembly
An improved urine collection bag assembly is presented. The improved urine collection bag assembly of the present invention features a one-way flow control valve to prevent the backflow of urine into a urinary catheter and subsequently, into a patient's bladder. The improved urine collection bag also features at a lower end a urine sampling valve. In the exemplary embodiment, the one-way flow control valve is a flap style valve and the sampling valve is a slider style valve.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR RECEIVING DISCHARGED URINE
A system suitable for collecting and transporting urine away from the body of a person or animal may include an assembly having a fluid impermeable casing having a fluid reservoir at a first end, a fluid outlet at a second end, and a longitudinally extending fluid impermeable layer coupled to the fluid reservoir and the fluid outlet and defining a longitudinally elongated opening between the reservoir and the outlet. The assembly can further include a fluid permeable support disposed within the casing with a portion extending across the elongated opening, and a fluid permeable membrane disposed on the support and covering at least the portion of the support that extends across the elongated opening, so that the membrane is supported on the support and disposed across the elongated opening. The assembly can further include a tube having a first end disposed in the reservoir and a second, fluid discharge end.
DEVICES FOR USE WITH SURGICALLY CREATED ORIFICES
A device for connecting and transferring contents between a surgically created first orifice and a surgically created second orifice is provided. The device comprises a hollow body member and first and second tubular legs depending from the hollow body, and being adapted for insertion into the first and second surgically created orifices respectively. The device further comprises a cap for closing the hollow body and completing a sealed pathway between the tubular legs for passively conveying contents between the first and second surgically created orifices. Sealing features of the device are provided that in combination operate to keep the contents away from unwanted skin areas and/or provide an easy-to-use device.
Ostomy Pouch
The invention relates to an ostomy pouch 10. The pouch 10 includes inner and outer walls 18b, 20b of flexible sheet material which sealed about a periphery. The walls 18b, 20b define a cavity for containing a stomal output and a drain 32 for draining stomal output from the cavity. An opaque comfort layer 18a, 20a is provided, at over an outer surface of the inner and/or outer walls 18b, 20b. The drain 32 is moveable between a deployed position for draining the stomal output from the cavity and a stowed position for storage of the drain 32, with at least part of the drain 32 overlying a portion of the comfort layer 18a, 20a in the stowed position. The drain 32 is substantially opaque on one side, and at least partly transparent on an opposing side.
Lid for medical implant
A lid for a medical implant that has first and second parts and a mechanism for engaging the implant. The second part is rotatable relative to the first part such that, in use, rotation of the second part relative to the first part causes the engaging mechanism to engage with and attach the lid to the implant.
Fluid-carrying application
The present invention provides a fluid-carrying application, comprising: a first sheet with a first surface and a second surface; a second sheet with a third surface and a fourth surface, wherein a part of the third surface and a part of the second surface of the first sheet are welded or adhered to at least one band-shaped region, thereby forming a first chamber having at least a first drainage port, and the inside of the chamber can communicate with the outside through the first drainage port; an adhesive layer, which is provided on the fourth surface of the second sheet; and a release layer, which covers at least a part of the adhesive layer, wherein, the first drainage port is formed at the first sheet or an open portion where the first sheet and the part adjacent to the edge of the second sheet are not welded or adhered to each other.
A VALVE FOR A UROSTOMY APPLIANCE
A valve for a urostomy appliance (1) including: a body (12′) for connection to the urostomy appliance (1) formed from first and second separate body parts (12a), (12b′), which are connected or connectable to each other, an inlet (14′) and an outlet (16), connected by a flow path, the inlet (14) being provided by the first body part (12a), and a blocking member (18′) which is received in an opening provided by the second body part (12b), said blocking member (18′) being moveable between a closed position, in which the blocking member (18′) blocks the inlet (14), such that liquid cannot flow through the flow path to the outlet (16), and an open position in which the inlet (14′) is open, such that liquid is permitted to flow through the flow path to the outlet (16′).
DRAINABLE OSTOMY POUCH INCLUDING CLOSURE MEMBERS AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A method of making drainable ostomy pouch outlet includes the steps of attaching a single-piece closure device on a downwardly extending outlet portion of the pouch and trimming side peripheries of the single-piece closure device to provide at least two separate closure members. The single-piece closure device may include at least one transversely-extending cut-line and/or at least one cut-out portions, which may be arranged to form at least two separate closure members on the outlet portion after the step of trimming.
INTESTINAL WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Intestinal waste management system (102) comprising a device (104) having an anchoring mechanism (106) for anchoring the device (104) once the device (104) is inserted into a stoma. A continence mechanism (108) controls discharge of intestinal waste to outside the intestinal waste management system (102). The continence mechanism (108) comprising abase flange (110) to be placed at the stoma. The base flange 110 to be connected to a discharge channel (114) to form a discharge passage (116) to transport the intestinal waste from intestine to outside, in an open state of the continence mechanism (108). A continence membrane (118) having a first end connected to a distal end of the discharge channel (114). In closed state of the continence mechanism (108), the continence membrane (118) is to fold upon itself to create a constriction within the discharge passage (116) to stop the intestinal waste from flowing out.
Apparatus and methods of using an intra-vaginal fluid collection device
Arrangements described herein relate to a device for collecting intravaginal fluid. The device is defined by a hollow collector and a flexible fluid collection bag, wherein the device is configured such that when inserted into the vagina, the hollow collector forms a seal with the inner walls of the vagina, while the fluid collection bag extends outside the body. By allowing fluid to collect outside the body rather than inside the, the device is permitted to be narrow in diameter (such as, for example, the diameter of a tampon), to increase user comfort. Flaps at the opening of the hollow collector may be used to seal fluid within the device when it is extracted from the body.
