OSTOMY SYSTEM WITH A SENSOR TO ALERT A USER OF LEAKAGE AROUND A BASE PLATE
An ostomy system includes a plurality of electrodes adapted to sense a leakage of stoma output relative to the base plate, with a first adhesive provided on a proximal side of the electrode assembly, a second adhesive provided on a distal side of the electrode assembly, a connection part with a plurality of terminals electrically coupled with the electrode assembly; and a monitor device with monitor device terminals. The coupling part mechanically and electrically connects the monitor device terminals to the connection part. When the electrode assembly is secured to the base plate and the first adhesive is secured to the skin of the user and the monitor device is coupled with the coupling part, the monitor device transmits a signal to an accessory device to alert the user to sensed leakage of the stoma output relative to the base plate.
Flow control and collection device
A flow control and collection system includes a flow control device having a tubular member in which an inflatable balloon is positioned about the circumference of the interior side wall for closing the passageway to movement of matter and liquid when the balloon is expanded and allowing flow when the balloon is contracted against the side wall to which it is attached. The flow control device includes an adapter at the outer end of the tubular member having one or more interlocking features. A waste collection bag has a sealed body with at least one opening and a flow control device adapter at the opening having one or more counterpoising interlocking features to removably lock the adapters together and passes waste material and liquid through the flow control device into the waste collection bag.
Ostomy appliance coupling assembly
A coupling assembly for an ostomy appliance that has a locking arrangement, a first coupling and a second coupling. The locking arrangement has a locking ring and first and second grips mounted to the locking ring. The locking ring is mounted to first and/or second coupling, forms an inner circumference and is adjustable between locked and unlocked configurations. In the locked configuration the locking ring is for maintaining the first and second couplings in a coupled configuration and the inner circumference is less than in the unlocked configuration. The first and second grips are positioned about the locking ring to be moveable towards one another to increase the inner circumference and adjust the locking ring from the locked configuration to the unlocked configuration.
Emptying device
An emptying device assembly for evacuation of a stoma includes a first film layer and a second film layer. The first film layer and second film layer are attached along a peripheral part to form an emptying device, wherein the first film layer has a first hole. An integrated connector ring includes: an annular base defining a second hole concentric with the first hole, wherein the annular base is attached, to the emptying device assembly around the first hole; and a plurality of radially inwardly protruding flanges, wherein at least a subset of the protruding flanges are adapted to engage with an outer circumferential groove of a cylindrical ostomy implant or a lid of an ostomy implant. A method of manufacturing the emptying device assembly is also disclosed.
LID
The present disclosure relates to a lid for an ostomy implant, comprising: a ring-shaped base part adapted to engage with an open end of the ostomy implant; a cap part adapted to fit inside the ring-shaped base part, wherein the cap part is rotatable with respect to the ring-shaped base part to lock and unlock the lid to the ostomy implant, and wherein the cap part has a through-hole; and a slider configured to be radially slid into a recess of the cap part in a closed configuration, wherein the slider completely covers the through-hole of the cap part, and radially slid out from the recess in an open configuration, wherein the slider does not cover the through-hole of the cap part. The disclosure further relates to a method of manufacturing the lid.
COUPLING SYSTEM FOR OSTOMY APPLIANCES
The present disclosure is a coupler assembly for an ostomy appliance. The coupler assembly has a body side coupler defining a female receiver and configured to be selectably coupled to a user and a bag side coupler defining a male portion sized to be selectively coupled to the female receiver of the body side coupler, the bag side coupler configured to be coupled to an ostomy bag. When the male portion is coupled to the female receiver providing, a pulling force on the ostomy bag increases a decoupling force required to uncouple the male portion from the female receiver relative to when the male portion is coupled to the female receiver in a neutral state.
Ostomy system operable to inform an ostomate of an ostomy device condition useful in preventing leakage relative to the ostomy device
An ostomy system operable to inform an ostomate of an ostomy device condition useful in preventing leakage relative to the ostomy device includes a base plate, an electrode assembly, a coupling part connected to the electrode assembly, and a monitor device adapted to connect to the coupling part. The electrode assembly is configured to sense ostomy data including moisture propagation in the adhesive layer. The monitor device is configured to collect the ostomy data and inform the user of a future leakage condition.
ENDOLUMINAL STOMA DEVICE
A waste collection system for collecting waste from a body of a patient. The waste collection system includes: an endoluminal stoma channel having a resilient deformable inner ring, an outer ring, a flexible polymer sleeve made from a biocompatible polymer and interconnecting the inner ring and the outer ring; an inner colostomy bag which can be detachably attached to the outer ring to collect and contain the waste; and a cover which can engage the outer ring in a sealed engagement, and where a portion of the flexible polymer sleeve and the inner ring are configured for insertion into a stoma formed in the body of the patient.
