Device configured to be supported on a human body, to measure a biological parameter of the human body, and to control a characteristic of the human body
The described apparatuses, devices, and mechanisms are configured to measure the temperature of one or more Abreu brain thermal tunnel (ABTT) terminuses. In addition, some embodiments are configured to provide treatment for the diagnosed conditions and diseases.
COOLING PAD FOR USE IN A NON-INVASIVE MEDICAL COOLING PROCESS FOR COOLING A BODY PART OF A PERSON
A cooling pad is provided for use in a non-invasive medical cooling process for cooling at least one portion of the body of a person by means of a cooling fluid flowing through said cooling pad in use. The cooling pad comprises a bottom sheet and a top sheet and of flexible and fluid tight material. Moreover the cooling pad comprises at least one flow guide for guiding a portion of a flow of fluid in the flow channel towards an inner or outer wall thereof.
HEAD CAP FOR A COOLING PAD FOR USE IN A NON-INVASIVE MEDICAL COOLING PROCESS
A head cap for securing a cooling pad for conducting medical cooling of the head and neck of a patient is provided.
Portable Hypo/Hyperthermia Unit
A portable heating/cooling device for clinical hypo/hyperthermia with cuffs especially designed for arterial cooling/heating for raising or lowering the body temperature of a patient is operable by battery power or a wide range of available external power, and is usable in the field or in medical transport where such external power sources are not available. The small size, weight, and robust nature of the device allows it to be transported with the patient without the need for additional conveying devices.
CERVICAL COLLAR
A cervical collar that facilitates therapeutic hypothermia is provided and includes a cooling device having a front portion and a back portion fixedly coupled to the front portion on one side and removably coupled to the front portion on an opposite side. A fastening device removably couples the back portion to the front portion on the opposite side. The cooling device induces hypothermia in at least a portion of a patient. A sensor is provided that measures a physical characteristic of the patient.

Temperature management systems
Systems and methods for managing patient temperature are disclosed. Temperature management systems that are suitable for an out-of-hospital setting are disclosed. Temperature management systems having a low power requirement are disclosed. Temperature management systems that include a disposable, single-use reservoir are disclosed.
Localized cooling to induce browning of adipose tissue
Described are methods for inducing browning of adipose tissue. More specifically, the present disclosure relates generally to methods for inducing browning of adipose tissue remote to the treatment location. The methods can include at least a first treatment and a second treatment, wherein the treatments comprise applying a cooling element to a local adipose tissue deposit, wherein the cooling element cools the local adipose tissue deposit to a temperature of between 0 C. to 30 C. for a period of time sufficient to induce browning of adipose tissue in one or more areas of the subject's body remote to the local adipose tissue deposit.
Portable medical cooling assembly
A cooling assembly is provided for cooling selected parts of the body of a patient to treat hyperthermia or to induce mild hypothermia in the treatment of strokes. The assembly includes a self-contained cooling unit containing a water supply, a battery operated refrigeration unit and circulating pump. A cooling member is connected to the cooling unit and is adapted for receiving cooled water and contacting selected parts of the patient to cool the patient. The cooling member can be a vest, wrap, blanket, chair, hood or cap.
