Magnetic disk device
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device comprising a magnetic disk, a magnetic head, and a controller that registers an address and a positioning error, determines whether or not a positioning error of a second sector that is two tracks ahead in a radial direction of a first sector to which a data is written is registered, and when the positioning error of the second sector is registered, sets a first threshold that allows a write operation for a positioning error of the first sector based on the positioning error of the second sector, and determines whether or not the positioning error of the first sector exceeds the first threshold, and stops the write operation when the positioning error of the first sector exceeds the first threshold.
Data storage device transmitting delta servo control value over serial interface
A data storage device is disclosed comprising a disk comprising servo data, and an actuator configured to actuate a head radially over the disk. The disk drive further comprises control circuitry comprising a servo controller and a driver circuit comprising an accumulator, wherein the servo controller is configured to generate digital control values based on the servo data and transmit the digital control values over a serial interface to the drive circuit. The accumulator is initialized based on a first digital control value received over the serial interface during a first servo interval, and then the accumulator is adjusted based on a second digital control value received over the serial interface during a second servo interval. An analog control signal is generated based on an output of the accumulator, and the analog control signal is applied to the actuator.
Magnetic disk device and method for suppressing disturbance component having harmonic
According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device includes a disk, a head, and a controller that estimates a first frequency component resulting from a disturbance in a first range of a frequency corresponding to the disturbance in a signal with the disturbance, estimates a second frequency component corresponding to a second frequency of a positive integral multiple of 2 or larger of a first frequency of the first frequency component in a second range different from the first range, and suppresses a first harmonic component corresponding to the positive integral multiple of the first frequency in a position error of a target position of the head on the disk.
ASSEMBLY OF DSA SUSPENSIONS USING MICROACTUATORS WITH PARTIALLY CURED ADHESIVES
A method of assembly a dual stage actuated suspension includes either applying an adhesive to a microactuator motor and then B-staging the adhesive, or applying an adhesive that has already been B-staged such as in film adhesive form to the microactuator then assembling the microactuator into a suspension and then finishing the adhesive cure. The adhesive can be applied to bulk piezoelectric material, with the adhesive being B-staged either before or after it is applied to the bulk piezoelectric material, and the piezoelectric material then singulated into a number of individual piezoelectric microactuators. The method allows greater control over how much adhesive is used, and greater control over spread of that adhesive and control over potential contamination, than traditional liquid epoxy dispense methods.
Method and apparatus for calibrating read-head off-track detector
In a data storage device having a storage medium, wherein data is written to tracks on the storage medium, data for each track including a preamble, and wherein the preamble in any current track is orthogonal to the preamble in any track adjacent to the current track, and wherein data accumulated in a multi-dimensional space is representative of a relationship between signals from the current track and signals from at least one adjacent track, the relationship between the signals from the current track and the signals from the at least one adjacent track is calibrated by, for each respective position out of a plurality of positions in the multi-dimensional space, accumulating a plurality of data values for the respective position, and determining, from the plurality of data values for the respective position, an inverted covariance matrix without performing a matrix inversion operation, either during run-time or prior to run-time.

Provided is a PSA sheet that has a high level of moisture resistance while maintaining good holding power with reduced gas emission. The PSA sheet provided by this invention comprises a moisture-impermeable layer and a PSA layer provided to one face of the moisture-impermeable layer. The PSA layer comprises a polymer A having a weight average molecular weight of 510.sup.4 or higher as a base polymer and a polymer B having a number average molecular weight of 1000 or higher and a weight average molecular weight lower than 510.sup.4.
Assembly of DSA suspensions using microactuators with partially cured adhesive
MISO equalization with ADC averaging
An apparatus may include a circuit configured to generate a set of first ADC samples based on a first signal associated with a first read head position and a failed segment and to generate a set of second ADC samples based on a second signal associated with a second read head position and the failed segment. The circuit may then generate, by a MISO equalizer, a set of equalized ADC samples based on the set of first ADC samples and the set of second ADC samples.
Heat-assisted magnetic recording device capable of preventing contaminant on the head
Data is written to data sectors of a heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) medium using a laser of a HAMR head supplied with a sum of an operational current and a threshold current. A service current is supplied to the laser when the head is over servo sectors of the medium, such that a temperature of the medium at the servo sectors is greater than or equal to a temperature of the head when over the servo sectors.
Data storage device using programmable deglitch window to detect saturation of VCM current control
A data storage device is disclosed comprising a voice coil motor (VCM) configured to actuate a head over a disk. The head is used to read data recorded on the disk to generate a read signal, and the read signal is processed to generate a current command signal at a servo sample rate having a servo sample interval. A current flowing through the VCM is detected, and a current error signal is generated based on a difference between the current command signal and the detected current flowing through the VCM. An analog command signal is generated based on the current error signal, and the analog command signal is applied to the VCM. A saturation in the analog command signal is detected, and a first deglitch window is generated during which the saturation detection is disabled, wherein the first deglitch window is programmed relative to the servo sample interval.
