Corneal topography measurement and alignment of corneal surgical procedures
Methods and apparatus are configures to measure an eye without contacting the eye with a patient interface, and these measurements are used to determine alignment and placement of the incisions when the patient interface contacts the eye. The pre-contact locations of one or more structures of the eye can be used to determine corresponding post-contact locations of the one or more optical structures of the eye when the patient interface has contacted the eye, such that the laser incisions are placed at locations that promote normal vision of the eye. The incisions are positioned in relation to the pre-contact optical structures of the eye, such as an astigmatic treatment axis, nodal points of the eye, and visual axis of the eye.
Laser methods and systems for addressing conditions of the lens
Systems and methods for performing laser cataract surgery, for using a biometric system to determine a material property of a structure of the eye, laser pulses in a laser shot pattern having different powers. A therapeutic laser, and laser delivery system having the capability to vary the power of the laser beam.
COMPOSITION FOR TREATMENT OF VITREOUS DISEASE OR DISORDER
A composition includes particles for use in a method for the treatment of a vitreous disease or a vitreous disorder as a light sensitizing agent. Each particle has a surface selected for or adapted for providing mobility of the particle in the vitreous and for binding to collagen aggregates, such as floaters.
Methods for treating glaucoma
A method of treating glaucoma in an eye includes obtaining a surgical instrument having a cutting means and severing/cleaving an anterior attachment of a portion of trabecular meshwork of the eye proximate to Schwalbe's line with the cutting means while leaving the ciliary muscle tendons attached to the scleral spur of the portion of trabecular meshwork to create a trabecular meshwork leaflet. The surgical instrument including the cutting means is preferably a handheld microsurgical cutting instrument having at least one sharpened edge. Alternatively, the instrument may be an invasive or non-invasive laser cutting instrument with a laser cutting means; a vibratory cutting instrument with a vibratory cutting means; or a thermal cutting instrument with a thermal cutting means. The step of severing the portion of trabecular meshwork is preferably characterized by a linear cleavage plane severing the attachment portion without removing substantially any trabecular meshwork from the eye.
Systems and methods for lenticular laser incision
Embodiments of this invention generally relate to ophthalmic laser procedures and, more particularly, to systems and methods for lenticular laser incision. In an embodiment, an ophthalmic surgical laser system comprises a laser delivery system for delivering a pulsed laser beam to a target in a subject's eye, an XY-scan device to deflect the pulsed laser beam, a Z-scan device to modify a depth of a focus of the pulsed laser beam, and a controller configured to form a top lenticular incision and a bottom lenticular incision of a lens in the subject's eye.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CROSS-LINKING TREATMENTS OF AN EYE
A system for corneal treatment includes a light source that activates cross-linking in at least one selected region of a cornea treated with a cross-linking agent. The light source delivers photoactivating light to the at least one selected region of the cornea according to a set of parameters. The system includes a controller that receives input relating to the cross-linking agent and the set of parameters. The controller includes computer-readable storage media storing: (A) program instructions for determining cross-linking resulting from reactions involving ROS including at least peroxides, superoxides, and hydroxyl radicals, and (B) program instructions for determining cross-linking from reactions not involving oxygen. The controller executes the program instructions to output a calculated amount of cross-linking in the at least one selected region of the cornea. In response to the calculated amount of cross-linking, the light source adjusts at least one value in the set of parameters.
Methods and systems for laser ophthalmic surgery that provide for iris exposures below a predetermined exposure limit
A laser surgical method for performing a corneal incision while maintaining iris exposure below a predetermined exposure limit includes: determining an initial iris exposure based on an initial treatment scan, determining whether the initial iris exposure is less than the predetermined exposure limit, generating a revised treatment scan comprising one or more treatment scan modifying elements when the initial iris exposure is greater than the predetermined exposure limit, and scanning the focal zone of a pulsed laser beam according to the revised treatment scan, thereby performing the corneal incision, wherein the one or more treatment scan modifying elements causes the iris exposure to be smaller than the predetermined exposure limit.
Visualization of vitreous floaters in the eye
In certain embodiments, an ophthalmic surgical system for viewing an eye includes an ophthalmic microscope and a laser device. The ophthalmic microscope receives light reflected or scattered backwards from within the vitreous of the eye in order to provide an image of an object within the vitreous. The ophthalmic microscope includes a slit illumination source (which includes a light source and an optical element), a spectral filter, and oculars. The slit illumination source illuminates the eye with light, where the light source provides the light, and the optical element directs the light into the eye. The spectral filter filters out red spectral components of the light. The oculars receive the light from the eye in order to provide the image of the object. The laser device generates a laser beam to direct towards the object within the eye.
Device for treating eye tissue by means of a pulsed laser beam
An ophthalmological device comprises a laser source, an application head having focusing optics and a patient interface, a scanner system and circuit. The circuit is configured to control the scanner system to incise an incision surface, which is symmetrical with respect to the central axis of the patient interface, in the eye tissue, a pulsed laser beam being steered onto treatment points on the incision surface on a first treatment path, and the treatment path being curved while extending around the projection axis of the focusing optics. In the event of a tilt of the eye with respect to the central axis of the patient interface, the circuit determines an apex of a tilted incision surface by a co-tilt of the incision surface corresponding to the tilt of the eye, and determines a transformed treatment path, which extends around the apex and determines treatment points on the tilted incision surface.
Arrangement for laser vitreolysis
An arrangement for laser treatment of vitreous floaters. The arrangement for laser vitreolysis of an eye includes an OCDR system, a laser system having a deflection unit, optical elements that couple the OCDR system and the laser system, a display unit and a central control and operating unit. The OCDR system is configured to localize the position of a floater along the optical axis of the OCDR system. The laser system is configured to destroy the floaters by application of laser pulses, and the central control and operating unit is configured to focus the laser system onto the position of the floater and to activate it, in particular when the position of the laser focus and the floater match in a sufficient manner. The present invention relates to an arrangement for the gentle, low risk and painless laser treatment of vitreous floaters, which allows a partially or fully automated therapy.
