A waterproof module includes a housing, an optical disc drive and a seal member. The housing has an outer surface, an opening and an inner surface defining a receiving space. The opening penetrates the outer surface and communicates with the receiving space. The optical disc drive includes a disc tray and a body disposed in the receiving space. The disc tray includes a tray body and a cover plate disposed at one end of the tray body. The tray body is slidable relative to the body between a retracted position and an ejected position. The seal member includes a connecting portion and a resilient portion. The connecting portion is stacked on the cover plate. The resilient portion surrounds the connecting portion. When the disc tray moves from the ejected position to the retracted position, the resilient portion presses against the outer surface and seals the opening.

Disclosed herein is a magnetic storage device that comprises a housing defining an interior cavity. The magnetic storage device also comprises at least one magnetic disk in the interior cavity of the housing. The magnetic storage device further comprises at least one read-write head in the interior cavity and configured to read data from and write data to the magnetic disk. The read-write head comprises a heat-assisted magnetic storage (HAMR) head. The magnetic storage device additionally comprises a gas, comprising oxygen and helium, sealed in the interior cavity of the housing. A percent concentration of oxygen in the gas is greater than or equal to 3%. A pressure of the gas is between 10% and 70%, inclusive, of atmospheric pressure. A relative humidity within the interior cavity is less than 5%, inclusive. A percent concentration of helium in the gas is less than or equal to 90%.

The system further includes at least one access door for providing access to an interior portion of the data storage library, a library controller, and at least one warning indicator associated with the data storage library and in electronic communication with the library controller. The at least one warning indicator is configured to provide an indication to an operator when the conditions within the data storage library are such that the at least one access door may be opened and when the conditions within the data storage library are such that the access door should not be opened.

The system includes: the tape drive; a humidity sensor for determining humidity information; a temperature sensor for establishing temperature information indicative of a temperature in an area of, or within, the tape drive; a heating entity for heating at least a portion of the tape drive; and a controller for activating the heating entity in a manner dependent on the temperature information established via the temperature sensor in order to prevent corrosion within the tape drive, said activating the heating entity being in response to a determination that the humidity information determined via the humidity sensor indicates that the relative humidity is above a specified relative humidity threshold value and the established temperature information indicates a temperature drop above a specified temperature drop value within a specified period of time.

A breather filter for reducing water in a data storage device housing includes an outer layer, an inner layer, and an intermediary layer positioned between the inner and outer layers. The outer layer includes an outer layer of hydrophilic material. The inner layer includes at least one of an inner layer of hydrophobic material and an inner layer of hydrophilic material. The intermediary layer includes a water adsorbing material, and fibers that promote water permeation from the inner layer to the outer layer.

Tape drive corrosion protection

A system and method for corrosion protection of a tape drive. The system includes: the tape drive, a temperature sensor, a heating entity and a controller for activating the heating entity. The method includes: establishing, via the temperature sensor, temperature information indicative of a temperature in an area of, or within, the tape drive; receiving the temperature information at the controller; and activating the heating entity in a manner dependent on the temperature information established via the temperature sensor in order to prevent corrosion within the tape drive.

The base portion includes a part accommodating portion defined by a through hole arranged to pass through the base portion in an axial direction, and arranged to accommodate at least a portion of a predetermined part; and a seal member arranged to close an end portion of the through hole on one axial side. The base portion and the lateral wall portion include a base made of a metal; a coating portion formed by electrocoating a surface of the base with at least a resin; and at least one exposed portion where the surface of the base is exposed. The at least one exposed portion is arranged in at least one of a predetermined first region and a second region. The first region lies on an axially upper end portion of the lateral wall portion, the axially upper end portion being opposite to the cover portion. The second region lies on an outer surface of the base portion, and is arranged to extend outward from an edge of the part accommodating portion so as to have a predetermined width.
