Simultaneous write and search operation in a content addressable memory

A ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) device comprising an input interface having a first input for receiving first data and a second input for receiving second data; and a memory configured to write the first data into an address selected row of the memory at the same time that a comparison is performed between the second data and at least one other row of the memory different from the address selected row. More particularly, the input interface may further have a third input for receiving a search enable signal and a fourth input for receiving a write enable signal, wherein the memory is configured to write the first data and perform the comparison in response to assertion of the search enable signal at the same time as assertion of the write enable signal. An associated method is also provided.

The data buffer at least receives an inputting data and a controlling signal. An outputting signal and a complementary outputting signal, which is complementary to the outputting signal, are formed when the controlling signal is at a predetermined level. The de-skew buffer receives the complementary outputting signal to accelerate or slow down forming the outputting signal.

The method may also include coupling a second voltage from a digit line associated with the memory cell to the input of the amplifier stage, the amplifier stage generating a third voltage on the output based on coupling the second voltage to the input, and the latch stage latching a logic value associated with the memory cell based on the third voltage.

A plurality of shared I/O lines can be configured to move data from the array of memory cells to a first portion of logic stripes and a second portion of logic stripes for in data path compute operations associated with the array. The first portion of logic stripes can perform a first number of operations on a first portion of data moved from the array of memory cells to the first portion of logic stripes while the second portion of logic stripes perform a second number of operations on a second portion of data moved from the array of memory cells to the second portion of logic stripes during a first time period.

The control circuit may be configured to cause the first routing circuit to route groups of input values to different ones of the first set of rows over a plurality of clock cycles, and the memory circuit to generate, on a clock cycle following the plurality of clock cycles, a particular accumulated output value that is computed based on the routed groups of input values.
