Aspects of the invention obtaining an emergency dispatch transmission and parsing the emergency dispatch transmission to obtain a location and a type of an emergency event. Aspects also include determining, based at least in part on the location and the type of the emergency event, an expected impact on traffic in an area including the location. Aspects further include transmitting the expected impact on traffic in the area to a vehicle navigation application.

A method for processing friction data for vehicle tires on road segments, implemented by a processing system including at least one computer and an interface for remote communication with a plurality of vehicles, the method including: acquiring, from the plurality of vehicles, friction data for tires of the vehicles on a plurality of road segments, each friction datum including at least: a maximum coefficient of friction available to the vehicle on the road segment, and information relating to the road segment; establishing, for each road segment, a distribution of the friction data obtained from the plurality of vehicles for the road segment; and determining a plurality of road types, each road type comprising a set of road segments, from a measurement of similarity between the distributions of friction data obtained for each road segment.

Systems and methods are presented for providing dynamic in-vehicle content. A path of a vehicle is predicted, and an intersection is identified along the predicted path. Based on vehicle status data, a determination is made as to whether the vehicle is decelerating along the predicted path within a threshold distance of the intersection. In response to determining that the vehicle is decelerating along the predicted path within the threshold distance of the intersection, a further determination is made as to whether a geographical location of the intersection is associated with a content item. In response to determining that the geographical location of the intersection is associated with the content item, the content item is presented via an entertainment device of the vehicle.
