Device for detecting leaks in packages
A device for detecting leaks or weaknesses in a flexible package. The device includes a first member having a non-conductive surface, a second member secured in a position adjacent the first member, and a control system. The second member has an electrically conductive first portion and an electrically conductive second portion. The electrically conductive first portion of the second member is normally electrically insulated from the electrically conductive second portion of the second member. The control system is arranged to detect an electrical current between the electrically conductive first portion and the electrically conductive second portion. The second member may be positioned relative the first member to compress a flexible package between the first member and the second member.
Devices and methods for determining vacuum pressure levels
A device is disclosed including a substrate; an infrared detector coupled to and thermally isolated from the substrate; and a heat shield coupled to the substrate by a plurality of contacts, the heat shield disposed above the infrared detector to block external thermal radiation from being received by the infrared detector. The heat shield is configured to receive a current through the contacts to heat the heat shield to a first temperature, and the infrared detector is configured to detect the first temperature and provide an output signal that is related to a vacuum pressure within the device. Methods for using and forming the device are also disclosed.
LEAK DETECTION IN A VISCOUS FLOW
The invention relates to a device for vacuum leak detection, comprising a vacuum pump (18), a test chamber (12) which is designed to accommodate the test specimen and can be evacuated by means of the vacuum pump (18), and a gas detector (16) which detects the gas evacuated from the test chamber (12) by means of the vacuum pump (18), wherein the test chamber (12) has a plurality of vacuum connections (26) provided with the vacuum pump (18) in order to evacuate the test chamber (12), characterized in that a common pump volume (28) which is connected to the vacuum connections (26) is fluidically provided between the vacuum connections (26) and the vacuum pump (18) and is evacuated by means of the vacuum pump (18).

Leak test apparatus and leak test method
A leak test apparatus that tests for a leak in a workpiece includes a plate; a seal that is able to move relative to the plate and is supported by the plate; a driving portion that supports the plate and moves the plate; and a pressure chamber that is surrounded by the plate and the seal. The seal is formed in a shape that enables the pressure chamber to be communicated with an outside.
Vacuum-based leak detection
A system and method for detecting leaks in an enclosure having a port and intended to prevent liquid material from exchanging into or out of the enclosure. A vacuum pump is coupled to the port and the enclosure is subjected to an applied vacuum pressure. Measurements of the mass and pressure within the enclosure while subject to the applied vacuum pressure are compared to expected values to detect a leak. In some embodiments, the physical arrangement of a valve of the enclosure is measured and compared to expected values to detect a leak.
Flexible fluid connection for evaporative emissions system
A leak detection module (LDM) includes a housing that provides a cavity that is enclosed by a wall that has a hole. A valve is arranged within the housing and in fluid communication along a passage that extends between first and second ports on the LDM, the valve is movable between open and closed positions. A pump is arranged within the housing and in fluid communication with the passage. A fluid fitting extends through the hole and has a passageway that extends between first and second end portions. The passageway is in fluid communication with the pump, the fluid fitting provides one of the first and second ports. A fastener secures the fluid fitting to the wall.
