The system further includes means for selectively exposing different portions of the one or more Teslin substrates to the ambient environment, in which the molecules present in the ambient environment are captured by the different portions of the one or more Teslin substrates as the different portions of the one or more Teslin substrates are exposed. The system can include that the means for selectively exposing different portions of the one or more Teslin substrates is an aperture in the housing.

Thermal desorption tube collection system and method

A thermal desorption tube collection system uses a thermoelectric cooler to collect and concentrate gas samples. In some modes, the operation of the cooler is reversed to flow the concentrated sample directly into a separator such as a gas chromatography system. Components resolved in time by a thermal desorption separator accumulate in a sample cell and are analyzed by electromagnetic radiation-based spectroscopic techniques. Also presented are methods for analyzing biogas samples.

METHOD FOR DETERMINING HYDROGEN SULFIDE BY HEADSPACE SINGLE-DROP LIQUID PHASE MICROEXTRACTION AND INTELLIGENT DEVICE COLORIMETRY

The present invention provides a method for determining hydrogen sulfide (H.sub.2S) by headspace single-drop liquid phase microextraction and intelligent device colorimetry, which comprises: taking a silver-gold core-shell triangular nanosheet (Ag@Au TNS) as a nanodetection probe, in combination with an analysis method of headspace single-drop microextraction (HS-SDME), specifically extracting H.sub.2S volatilized from a sample to be detected by the nanodetection probe, and detecting H.sub.2S in the extracted sample with the help of the photographing function of an intelligent device and a color picking software. Compared with the prior art, the present invention adopts intelligent device colorimetry, with the limit of detection of about 65 nM and the linear range of 0.1-100 μM, and the established method can be applied to the determination of H.sub.2S in actual samples such as egg white, milk and other opaque samples, and has the advantages of few procedures, simple operation, high detection efficiency and the like.

System and method for in ovo sexing of avian embryos

A system for determining the gender and/or fertility status of avian eggs including a sampling apparatus and an electromagnetic radiation transmitter and detector. In certain embodiments, the transmitter operates in the terahertz range. The sampling apparatus can be coupled to an avian egg. The sampling apparatus includes a vacuum source, a gas collection device, and a membrane that can be positioned in the passageway coupling the vacuum source to the gas collection device. The membrane is capable of capturing volatile organic compounds. The sampling apparatus applies a vacuum from the vacuum source to the gas proximate to the avian egg and directs the gas captured from the vicinity of the egg toward the membrane. Subsequently, the membrane is positioned within the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the transmitter, generating a spectrum which can be analyzed to determine whether the egg is fertile or infertile, and if fertile, whether the egg is male or female. In an embodiment, the captured volatile organic compounds are transferred to a sample chamber where the captured gas is analyzed.
