METHOD, DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR HYDRODYNAMIC FLOW FOCUSING
In a method for hydrodynamic focusing of a laminar and planar sample fluid flow, a system is provided for analysis and/or sorting of microscopic objects in the sample fluid comprising an optical objective for optical inspection of the microscopic objects. Microscopic objects are conveyed in the laminar flow of the sample fluid, and two laminar and planar flow of sheath fluids are provided. The flow of the sample fluid is hydrodynamically focused at an optical inspection zone of the system by the sheath fluids. Focusing of the flow of the sample fluid is controlled such that all of the microscopic objects in the sample fluid are caused to be conveyed in a common flow direction in one single plane at the inspection zone of the system, and the microscopic objects in the fluid are optically inspected through the optical objective.

Some embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for separating, directing, and/or extracting a target molecule from a mix of molecules and may comprise a plurality of non-magnetic beads suspended in a ferro fluid, where the non-magnetic beads may be functionalized with at least one predetermined first molecule configured to bind with a target particle. A microfluidic device may be included which may comprise at least one microfluidic channel, the device configured to dynamically and/or statically receive an amount of the mix. Magnetic field means may be included and may be configured to apply a magnetic field to at least a portion of the at least one channel to exert an indirect force on the non-magnetic heads in the ferro fluid mix, and separate the non-magnetic beads from the ferrofluid. The beads may then be directed to at least one receptor region. At least one outlet may be provided which is arranged to be in communication with the at least one microfluidic channel, the at least one outlet may be configured to receive and extract the separated non-magnetic beads from the ferrofluid.
System And Method For Acoustic Focusing Hardware And Implementations
The present invention is a method and apparatus for acoustic focusing hardware and implementations.
Fluidic flow cytometry devices and particle sensing based on signal-encoding
Microfluidic devices, systems and techniques in connection with particle sorting in liquid, including cytometry devices and techniques and applications in chemical or biological testing and diagnostic measurements.
A SENSOR FOR PARTICLE DETECTION IN A FLUID
A sensor is provided for detecting and characterizing particles in a fluid. The sensor has a microfluidic channel for receiving the fluid sample, an acoustic transducer module configured to generate a standing wave for concentrating the particles in a region of the microfluidic channel; an optical detection module configured to detect optical signals scattered by the particles upon illuminating the region of the fluid sample with a light source; and a data processing module configured to characterize the particles of the fluid sample based on the optical signals using a classifier.
OPTOFLUIDIC SORTER
A method is provided for transporting a plurality of cells through a flow chamber, wherein the cells are initially immobilized on an internal surface of the flow chamber. The method comprises: selectively releasing the cells from the internal surface of the flow chamber; and flowing liquid through the flow chamber such that the released cells travel with the liquid, thereby transporting the cells through the flow chamber. Cells can be immobilized on or selectively released from the internal surface by applying or removing a trapping potential. The trapping potential can arise from an electric field gradient or an optical field gradient. Alternatively, cells can be selectively released from the surface using photocatalysis. Selective release allows cells to be individually observed or analyzed downstream, and can be based on a signal detected from one or more cells immobilized on the surface.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PARTICLE SORTING WITH AUTOMATED ADJUSTMENT OF OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS
Systems and methods for particle sorting are presented including a monitoring system downstream of a particle separator or sorter. The system can utilize the monitoring system to adjust or calibrate operational parameters of the system in real time. When a particle of interest is mis-sorted, the probability is high that the particle of interest has been sorted into a non-targeted sortable unit that was adjacent in sequence to the sortable unit that was expected to include the particle of interest. The monitoring system monitors non-targeted sortable units in the system that were adjacent in sequence to targeted sortable units that are predicted to contain particles of interest. Signals from the monitoring system enable automated adjustment or calibration of operational parameters of the system such as sort delay or purity mask parameters.
DEVICE FOR LASER ANALYSIS AND SEPARATION (LAS) OF PARTICLES
A device includes a collimated light source operable to generate a collimated light source beam, which includes a beam direction. The device includes a first channel in a first plane and a second channel in a second plane different from the first plane. The second channel communicates with the first channel and includes a flow direction. The second channel is oriented to receive the collimated light source beam. The device includes a third channel in a third plane different from the second plane and communicates with the second channel. The collimated light source beam is oriented to enter a cross-section of the first channel, then to pass through the second channel, and then to enter a cross-section of the third channel such that the beam direction is opposite to the flow direction in the second channel. The device includes a focused particle stream nozzle operably connected to the first channel.
FLUID DEVICE
A fluid device includes: a flow path through which a fluid flows; and an ultrasonic wave transmitter configured to transmit an ultrasonic wave to generate a standing wave to the fluid in the flow path along a first direction orthogonal to a flowing direction of the fluid. The ultrasonic wave transmitter is in contact with the fluid and faces an antinode region corresponding to any antinode in the standing wave.
Microanalysis of cellular function
An inverted microwell provides rapid and efficient microanalysis system and method for screening of biological particles, particularly functional analysis of cells on a single cell basis. The use of an inverted open microwell system permits identification of particles, cells, and biomolecules that may be combined to produce a desired functional effect also functional screening of secreted antibody therapeutic activity as well as the potential to recover cells and fluid, and optionally expand cells, such as antibody secreting cells, within the same microwell.
