The present invention is intended that diluted exhaust gas is supplied to a plurality of measurement instruments by a single exhaust gas dilution device to thereby reduce in size an exhaust gas measurement system incorporated with the exhaust gas dilution device and dilute exhaust gas with the same exhaust gas under the same dilution condition in the plurality of measurement instruments.

MOLECULAR DETECTION APPARATUS AND MOLECULAR DETECTION METHOD

A molecular detection apparatus according to a embodiment includes: a collection unit which collects detection target gases each containing molecule to be detected; a concentration adjusting unit which dilutes and/or concentrates the molecule, and generates a plurality of detection target gases having different concentrations of the molecule; a detection unit to which the plurality of detection target gases are sequentially introduced, and which includes a plurality of detection cells each outputting detection signals based on the concentrations of the molecule in the plurality of detection target gases; and a discrimination unit which discriminates the molecule by change tendencies of the detection signals based on the concentrations of the molecule.

Method and system for measuring conductivity of decationized water

Time until a conductivity meter is ready to measure a conductivity after an electric decationizing apparatus starts is shortened. Water to be treated that contains cations and anions is supplied to the electric decationizing apparatus while applying a first voltage to the electric decationizing apparatus, and decationized water is generated. Next, the decationized water that is generated by the electric decationizing apparatus is supplied to the conductivity meter in order to measure conductivity of the decationized water. Before the first voltage is applied to the electric decationizing apparatus and before the conductivity meter begins measuring the conductivity of the decationized water, a second voltage that is lower than the first voltage is applied to the electric decationizing apparatus in a state in which the electric decationizing apparatus is charged with water to be treated.

System for taking exhaust gas samples from internal combustion engines

A system for taking exhaust gas samples from internal combustion engines includes an exhaust gas duct comprising an outflow cross section and an exhaust gas inlet. The exhaust gas duct communicates with an exhaust gas source via the exhaust gas inlet. An air duct takes in ambient air via a filter. The outflow cross section is concentric in the air duct. A mixing zone is arranged downstream of the outflow cross section. A dilution tunnel has an exhaust gas/air mixture flow therethrough. An annular orifice is arranged downstream of the outflow cross section in the dilution tunnel. A flow deflection device is arranged upstream of the annular orifice and downstream of the outflow cross section. The flow deflection device deflects the exhaust gas/air mixture so that it departs from a center axis of the dilution tunnel immediately downstream of the flow deflection device in an axially symmetrical manner.

Method for identification and quantitative determination of an unknown organic compound in a gaseous medium

A method for identifying and quantitatively analyzing an unknown organic compound in a gaseous medium. More specifically, the method provides a gas sensor array (120a, 120b, 120c, 120d) coupled to a diluting channeling gas inlet (105) with a honeycomb configuration. Each sensor (120a, 120b, 120c, 120d) in the array receives the test gas after successive dilutions. Detected gas are identified by correlating the responses of each sensor with its associated dilution.

An exhaust sampling system for an engine is provided. The exhaust sampling system may include a source of exhaust gas, an exhaust collection unit including at least one collection bag that selectively receives the exhaust gas, and a sample probe in fluid communication with the source of exhaust gas that selectively supplies the at least one collection bag with the exhaust gas. The exhaust sampling system may also include a controller that permits flow of the exhaust gas from the sample probe to the at least one collection bag in a first state and prevents flow of the exhaust gas from the sample probe to the at least one collection bag in a second state. The controller may determine an extraction rate of the sample probe based on an ON time of the engine during a test phase.

System and method for detecting valid breaths from a capnometry signal

Based on a capnometry signal, one or more breathing parameters of a subject are determined that require valid breaths by the subject to be distinguished from anatomical events that cause the CO.sub.2 content of gas at or near the airway of the subject to fluctuate. To improve the accuracy of one or more of these determinations, gas at or near the airway of the subject is diluted.
