Wound dressing
A method and apparatus are disclosed for dressing a wound. The apparatus comprises a sealing layer comprising at least one orifice, an absorbent layer over the sealing layer, absorbing wound exude and a liquid impermeable, gas permeable filter layer over the absorbent layer.
Wound Dressing
A wound dressing in the form of a bag enclosing fly maggots, having a porous wall made from plastic, the wall having a membrane made from an open cell polyurethane foam, the pore diameter of which is approximately 0.1 mm to approximately 1 mm.
SILICONE WOUND DRESSING AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING AND USING THEREOF
Provided are a silicone wound dressing, a method of manufacturing thereof and a method of using thereof. The silicone wound dressing has a silicone dressing base material and an amorphous carbon coating formed on the silicone dressing base material. The amorphous carbon coating is formed by subjecting the silicone dressing base material to a plasma polymerization in a plasma device under an atmosphere of a mixed gas comprising a hydrocarbon gas and an oxygen-containing gas. The silicone wound dressing has excellent oxygen permeability and is less likely to adhere to the wound. The speedy recovery of the wound is promoted by covering the wound with the silicone wound dressing.
Wound dressing including a biocelulose layer having a bacteria-adsorbing design
A wound dressing including at least one layer made of microbially produced cellulose formed into a biocellulose layer, wherein the wound dressing is configured to adsorb bacteria and wherein the thickness of the bio-cellulose layer is between 0.08 and 1.5 mm, as well as a method for producing such a wound dressing.
Chronic wound dressing with variable pore sizes
An improved skin substitute is presented comprised of a silicone layer backed up with a woven nylon fabric layer, the silicone layer possessing a regular pattern of slits that permit the porosity of the skin substitute to be adjusted by clinicians by means of applying tension to the skin substitute that differentially opens the slits. A variety of therapeutic substances can be applied to the skin substitute to promote healing, including aloe and other medicinal preparations. The skin substitute is directed at chronic wound treatment and hernia repair.
HYDROGEL WOUND DRESSING FOR USE WITH SUCTION
A wound dressing comprising: an air-impermeable backing sheet having an aperture for attachment of a suction element; an air-permeable screen layer on a wound facing side of the backing sheet; and a substantially air-impermeable hydrogel layer extending across a wound facing side of said screen layer and joined in substantially airtight fashion to a periphery of said backing sheet around said screen layer. Also provided is a wound treatment system comprising a wound dressing according to the invention and a source of suction in fluid communication with said aperture.
Wound care article for extraction and control of wound fluids
The subject of the invention is a wound care article for extraction and control of wound fluids, comprising at least one first fluid-absorbing structure (1; 10; 36), which is surrounded by a liquid-permeable, first enclosure (2), and a liquid-permeable, second enclosure (3) comprising two enclosing surfaces (13.1, 13.2). The wound care article is thus characterized in that the first enclosure (2) is covered or supported on at least one of its flat sides (4.1, 4.2) by at least one fluid-absorbing material layer (6.1, 6.2; 6.3), which is arranged (FIG. 1a) between the first enclosure (2) and one of the enclosing surfaces (13.1, 13.2) of the second enclosure (3).
ABSORBENT ARTICLES WITH NON-ADHERENT MEMBER
Example absorbent articles including a non-adherent member comprising a polyester, a substrate adjacent the non-adherent member, and an absorbent member disposed between the non-adherent member and the substrate are disclosed. The non-adherent member defines a plurality of perforations extending through a thickness of the non-adherent member. Example techniques for forming example articles are disclosed.
BREATHABLE INTERFACE SYSTEM FOR TOPICAL REDUCED PRESSURE
A reduced pressure tissue treatment system includes an applicator having an aperture, a first pad section, and a second pad section substantially covering the aperture and positioned substantially adjacent the first pad section. A fabric layer is located at least partially between the second pad section and the drape, and the fabric layer includes a woven or non-woven fabric made from a fiber material. A drape substantially covers the first pad section, the second pad section, the fabric layer, and the applicator. A reduced pressure source is in fluid communication with at least one of the first pad section and the fabric layer for providing reduced pressure to the aperture.
Self-adaptive and optionally also otherwise adaptable wound dressing
An automatically self-adjusting variable permeability providing (AVPP) layer is provided over and in operative interaction with a wound site containing a wound to the integumentary system of a living creature such as the skin of a human patient. The AVPP layer has the capability of automatically changing in respective fluid permeability characteristics provided by respective subregions of the AVPP layer where the changes are in reaction to extant or changed conditions in corresponding micro-zones of the wound site. The automatic self-adjusting behaviors of the respective subregions of the AVPP layer can include providing a faster rate of vapor removal for micro-zones of the wound site that are too wet and providing a slower rate of vapor removal or essentially no vapor removal for micro-zones of the wound site that are too dry.
