Breathable instant cast
An instant breathable cast includes an inner sleeve of an absorbent moisture wicking porous innermost layer allowing air and liquid to pass through and a shock absorbing intermediate layer having a plurality of openings therein allowing air and liquid to pass there through; and a protective outer sleeve having a plurality of openings therein allowing air and liquid to pass there through; and method of application thereof.
DEVICE FOR VENTILATING AN ORTHOPEDIC CAST
Provided herein is a device for ventilating an orthopedic cast. The device includes (a) an air-pump; and (b) a flexible tubing connected to the air-pump; such that the flexible tubing is insertable into the space between the orthopedic cast and the body of the wearer of the orthopedic cast. The air-pump permits air to be forced into the flexible tubing to ventilate the space between the orthopedic cast and the body of the wearer of the orthopedic cast through an opening in the flexible tubing.
ORTHOTIC DEVICE, ORTHOTIC SYSTEM AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE THEREOF
An orthotic device for embracing and supporting a body part (e.g., articulation) of a human or animal. The orthotic device is a single sheet of moldable Polylactic Acid (PLA) material configured to maintain the body part in an optimal position for development and treatment. An orthotic system includes the PLA sheet and a protective layer in the form of a single moldable sheet of polyethylene foam (PEF). The PEF sheet is configured for placement between the PLA sheet and the body part.
Orthopedic system for immobilizing and supporting body parts
A unitized cast system for immobilizing and supporting a body part. The unitized casting system includes a first inner layer for padding and dissipating heat against the patient's skin. A second layer is formed from a thermoformable structural material such as perforated plastic. A protective third outer layer is provided to provide insulation for the second layer. These three layers are formed together to form a unitized cast system that is easily formed and applied to the patient.
ORTHOSIS APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE
An improved orthosis apparatus for being selectively formed and applied and removed having offset zipper closures on two shell members for improved hinging and opening and access for initial application and forming when malleable and for removing and reinstalling when hardened.
Medical cast and skin protector
The present invention relates to a medical cast having a dual structure. The present invention provides the medical cast comprising: a skin protector coming into contact with the affected area of a patient, woven by mixing and using at least two kinds of functional fibers in order to increase adhesive strength with the skin, and manufactured such that diamond-shaped mesh holes are formed in the shape of a meshed net; an inner supporting cast formed to cover the outer side of the skin protector and comprising an inside supporting cast for absorbing sweat or body waste between the casts, an inner ventilating channel for covering the outer surface of the inside supporting cast and improving air permeability, an adhesion enhancing part for increasing the elasticity of the cast, and an inner rigidity reinforcing part for providing primary rigidity for the medical cast; and an outer supporting cast formed to cover the outer side of the inner supporting cast, impregnated with a hardening solution having hydraulic properties, and comprising an outer ventilating channel formed along the circumference thereof, an adhesion enhancing part connected with the outer ventilating channel so as to provide predetermined elastic force, a cutter part provided on one surface of the outer side thereof for guiding the progressing direction of a cutter blade, and outer rigidity reinforcing parts formed on both sides of the cutter part so as to provide secondary rigidity for the medical cast.
Orthopedic cast ventilator
An orthopedic cast ventilator apparatus and related methods are provided. The cast ventilator includes an air pump disposed within a housing connected to an air delivery cuff via tubing. The air pump draws air into the air mover through a primary air filter and through an air intake aperture. The air pump also pumps air out through a discharge port in the housing, through a length of tubing, through a secondary air filter, and into an air delivery cuff. The cleaned air fills two arms of the air delivery cuff and is forced out through cuff discharge ports.
COLD THERAPY CAST BOOT
A cast boot and removable integrated cold therapy attachment is provided for promoting healing, recovery and pain relief, following lower limb fracture or surgery. The cast boot has at least one channel for drainage of condensation or liquid from the interior of the cast boot. The cast boot is configured to support a cold therapy attachment. The cold therapy attachment further has one or more perforated holes for drainage of condensation or liquid. The cast boot has adjustable straps for allowing removable and positioning of the cold therapy attachment inside the cast boot.
Shoulder thermal therapy wrap
A heat/cold therapy wrap for the shoulder envelops the shoulder, over the clavicle and down over a portion of the upper arm. Compression against the shoulder is adjustable via a torso strap and a separate compression strap. A pair of pockets receive thermal gel material, preferably a non-migrating gel which will easily form to the contours of the shoulder and will remain as an integral plastic mass, not migrating within the enveloping bag under pressure. The ergonomically designed shoulder wrap is light in weight and engages the shoulder in a way that allows range of motion exercises in which heat/ice therapy combined with motion are useful to treat frozen shoulder syndromes or adhesive capsulitis. In one embodiment of the wrap an arm cuff is provided at the lower end of the device to encircle the upper arm. Another embodiment has no permanent arm cuff but has a versatile compression strap.
WOUND DRESSING WITH ELASTIC PROPERTIES FOR CONTOURING TO THE SHAPE OF A LIMB
In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a wound dressing with elastic properties for use with a human or an animal. The wound dressing includes a plurality of individual segments, each segment connected to at least one other segment by an elastic connector, and each segment having at least two perforated layers, with at least one layer having a plurality of protrusions. The wound dressing further includes a plurality of spacing elements, with each spacing element disposed between adjacent segments and retained by either the adjacent segments or the elastic connector.
