CARDIAC VALVE COMMISSURE BRACE
A brace for mounting to an annulus of a cardiac valve, the brace comprising: first and second bottom gripping wings for gripping the annulus; first and second top gripping wings for gripping the annulus; and a support bridge that connects the top wings to the bottom wings; wherein the brace is formed from a shape memory alloy and is deformable from a delivery configuration to a deployed configuration and in the delivery configuration the top wings are oriented substantially back to back along an axis and the bottom wings are oriented substantially back to back along the same axis, and in the deployed configuration the first top and first bottom gripping wings face each other to grip the annulus between them and the second top and second bottom gripping wings face each other to grip the annulus between them.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SPHINCTER REINFORCEMENT
Sphincter reinforcement devices are described. Sphincter reinforcement devices may be configured to be placed at least partially around a bodily passage at or near a sphincter. In one embodiment, a sphincter reinforcement device may comprise a ring including a tubular structure. The ring may be expandable. The tubular structure may be hollow. The tubular structure may have a first end and a second end. The first end may be configured to be coupled to the second end. The tubular structure may include a braided material.
Devices for adjusting the curvature of cardiac valve structures
An interventional curvature device for temporarily adjusting the structure of a heart during a heart valve repair procedure in order to enhance the effectiveness of the heart valve repair procedure. The curvature device is adjustable between a collapsed configuration with a profile suitable for delivery of the device to a coronary sinus and great cardiac vein of a patient, and an expanded configuration for lodging of the device at the coronary sinus and great cardiac vein. The curvature device has a distal section that anchors within the great cardiac vein, and a proximal section that anchors within the coronary sinus. A tether is coupled to the distal end of the device and extends through the device and past the proximal end. An increase in tension in the tether increases the curvature of the device.
Truncated cone heart valve stent
A heart valve stent having a section with a heart valve implant and several proximally disposed tissue anchors, also comprising a plurality of anchoring threats, each with a proximate end fastened to the stent or valve and a distal end attached to tissue within a heart chamber to provide tension between the heart chamber tissue and the stent.
EXPANDABLE ARTICULATING INTERVERTEBRAL IMPLANT WITH LIMITED ARTICULATION
An artificial functional spinal unit including an expandable intervertebral implant that can be inserted via a posterior surgical approach and used with one or more facet replacement devices to provide an anatomically correct range of motion is described. Lordotic and non-lordotic expandable, articulating implants and cages are described, along with embodiments of facet replacement devices and instruments for insertion. Methods of insertion are also described.
Intervertebral Implant with Blades for Connecting to Adjacent Vertebral Bodies
An intervertebral implant for insertion into an intervertebral disc space between adjacent vertebral bodies or between two bone portions. The implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion operatively coupled to the spacer portion and one or more blades for securing the implant to the adjacent vertebral bodies. The blades preferably include superior and inferior cylindrical pins for engaging the adjacent vertebral bodies. The implant may be configured to be inserted via a direct lateral trans-psoas approach. Alternatively, the implant may be configured for insertion via an anterior approach.
Devices for reconstruction of a lens capsule after cataract surgery
Provided herein are devices used to reconstruct a natural lens capsule after a cataract surgery. The device has a ring-shaped rigid component, a ring-shaped flexible component and a groove disposed on an inner surface of the rigid component. The device also may have a ledge disposed on an inner surface of the flexible component. The rigid component has a distal end attached to the ring-shaped flexible component and a proximal end that lies against Wieger's ligament when fitted within the natural lens capsule. The ring-shaped flexible component has a proximal end that is attached to the distal end of the rigid component and a distal end that contacts an anterior surface of the natural lens capsule when fitted therein. The groove is disposed to receive optics of an intraocular lens and/or the ledge is disposed to secure haptics thereof.
LEAFLET CLIP WITH COLLARS
An implant is configured to be coupled to first and second native leaflets of a native heart valve of a patient. The implant includes a proximal collar, a distal collar, and first and second clasps. Each of the first and second clasps has first and second tissue-engaging portions that are (1) disposed distal to the proximal collar and proximal to the distal collar, and (2) movable, with respect to each other, to clamp one of the leaflets between the first and second tissue-engaging portions of the clasp. The implant is configured such that, when the leaflets are clamped by the first and second clasps, the first and second clasps form the first and second native leaflets into a double orifice, each orifice configured to function as a respective check-valve. Other embodiments are also described.
Frame for prosthetic valve
Apparatus and methods are described including a valve frame defining a frame aperture and at least one arm attached to a portion of the valve frame on a ventricular side of said frame aperture. The at least one arm is configured to extend radially from the portion of the valve frame such that a chord receiving surface of the arm is sized and shaped to deploy among a region of the chords of the native mitral valve. The arm is curved, with an interior of the arm facing a direction in which the valve frame is configured to be rotated during deployment of the prosthetic mitral valve apparatus within the native mitral valve and with the arm having a concavely rounded leading edge facing at least partially in a circumferential direction. Other applications are also described.
Medical devices for use along the biliary and/or pancreatic tract
Medical devices and method for making and using the same are disclosed. An example medical device may include implantable medical device for use along the biliary and/or pancreatic tract. The implantable medical device may include a tubular member having a first end configured to be disposed within the duodenum of a patient and a second end configured to be disposed adjacent to a pancreatic duct and/or bile duct. The tubular member may have a body including one or more wire filaments that are woven together. The tubular member may also have an outer surface with a longitudinal channel formed therein.
