Toner containing toner particles having a resin component, in which the resin component has an olefin-based copolymer and a crystalline polyester resin, the olefin-based copolymer has a unit Y1 represented by Formula (1) and at least one kind of unit Y2 selected from the group consisting of a unit represented by Formula (2) and a unit represented by Formula (3), a content of the olefin-based copolymer contained in the resin component is 50% by mass or more based on a total mass of the resin component, a content of the unit Y2 is 3% by mass or more and 35% by mass or less based on a total mass of the olefin-based copolymer, and a melt flow rate of the olefin-based copolymer is 30 g/10 min or less.

Method of producing a toner particle

A toner particle production method has an annealing step that is performed after the preparation of a resin solution by the dissolution or dispersion, in an organic solvent, of a binder resin having a polyester resin as its major component and a block polymer having a polyester segment and a vinyl polymer segment, and the preparation of a resin particle dispersion in which resin particles are dispersed by a dissolution suspension method, wherein, in this annealing step, the temperature of the obtained resin particle dispersion is held for at least 60 minutes in the temperature range from TgA-15 ( C.) to TmA ( C.), and under the conditions of a temperature variation range of not more than 20 C. and a temperature variation rate of not more than 0.35 C./minute.

Provided is a toner for developing electrostatic images containing a toner particle. The toner particle contains a binder resin and a release agent. The binder resin contains a vinyl resin component and a crystalline polyester resin component. The vinyl resin component has a structural unit derived from an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer represented by Formula (1):

A process for making a crystalline latex suitable for use in a toner by phase inversion emulsification (PIE) where when resin of particular acid number is neutralized to a certain degree, smaller sized resin particles are obtained reproducibly.

In a luminance histogram created from STEM observation, the total pixel value C in luminance 0 to 9 and the total pixel value A in luminance 0 to 245 satisfy 0.000C/A0.250. When the pixel value in luminance 10 to 245 has a maximum value P at luminance X, luminance M-luminance N ranges from 120 to 235, wherein the luminance M denotes a luminance at which the pixel value falls below 20% of P for the first time from the luminance X to 245, and the luminance N denotes a luminance at which the pixel value falls below 20% of the P for the first time from the luminance X to 10.

A toner comprising a toner particle comprising a binder resin and a release agent, wherein the binder resin comprises a crystalline resin A, the crystalline resin A comprises a monomer unit derived from a monomer (a), the monomer (a) is at least one selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid esters having an alkyl group with 18 to 36 carbon atoms, the peak temperature and endothermic quantity at an endothermic peak derived from the crystalline resin A in DSC measurements using the toner satisfy specific relationships, and the release agent is at least one selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon-based waxes and ester waxes.
