An image forming apparatus includes a first plurality of image forming sections that form a first toner image for adjustment and transfer the first toner image for adjustment to a medium; a second plurality of image forming sections that form a second toner image for adjustment and transfer the second toner image for adjustment to the medium; and a detection device configured to detect a misregistration between the first toner image for adjustment transferred to the medium and the second toner image for adjustment transferred to the medium.

An image forming apparatus includes: a transfer unit that faces an image holding unit and is configured to come into contact with and separate from the image holding unit with a continuous form paper continuous in a transport direction interposed between the transfer unit and the image holding unit and to transfer an image held by the image holding unit onto the continuous form paper; a displacement unit that displaces the continuous form paper to a position closer to the image holding unit when the transfer unit separates from the image holding unit; and a contact portion that contacts the continuous form paper from a downstream side in a displacement direction before the continuous form paper displaced by the displacement unit contacts the image holding unit.

The controller brings the primary transfer members into contact with the photosensitive drums in a full-color mode, separates the primary transfer members from the photosensitive drums in a monochrome mode, and sets the position of the primary transfer members to a predetermined position between that in the full-color mode and the monochrome mode in a standby mode.

An image forming apparatus includes: plural image forming units that each include plural image forming sections and a first intermediate transfer body to which toner images formed by the plural image forming sections are transferred through first transfer; plural second transfer sections provided in correspondence with the plural image forming units to transfer the toner images on the first intermediate transfer body to a recording medium through second transfer; and a detection device that detects the toner images downstream of a most downstream one of the second transfer sections.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus of the embodiment includes a roller, a plurality of developing units, an image forming unit, a sensor, and a control unit. The rollers carry a sheet. The plurality of developing units include different types of developing materials. The image forming unit forms a plurality of images on a transfer belt by the developing materials of each of the plurality of developing units. The sensor reads the plurality of images formed on the transfer belt. The control unit controls the speed of the roller based on the positions of the plurality of images read by the sensor.

An image forming apparatus includes a controller configured to control first and second image forming units to form a plurality of groups of detection images, the plurality of groups of detection images being scaled based on a scaling factor, determine a plurality of detection start timings that respectively correspond to the plurality of groups based on the scaling factor, control a detection unit to detect the plurality of groups based on the determined detection start timings, and control the detected misregistration of a first image to be formed by the first image forming unit and a second image to be formed by the second image forming unit.

The first support member is movable with respect to the first storage frame such that the first toner cartridge moves from the first attached position to the first retracted position. The second support member is movable with respect to the second storage frame such that the second toner cartridge moves from the second attached position to the second retracted position.

An image forming apparatus includes a rotary configured to rotate and including a developing roller and a storage frame including a storage portion configured to store toner, a body frame with an opening, a toner cartridge which is attachable to and detachable from the rotary through the opening, which is movable to an attached position and a retracted position, a moving device configured to move the toner cartridge from the attached position to the retracted position, and an opening/closing member provided to be movable between a closed position and an open position. The opening/closing member is configured to move from the closed position to the open position in an interconnected manner with movement of the toner cartridge from the attached position to the retracted position by the moving device.

An image forming apparatus includes multiple image forming units that are arranged in one direction and form images by attaching developers to surfaces of image carriers and transfer the images onto recording media, the image forming units including a first image forming unit that forms an image of a developer of a first color on a surface of a first image carrier and a second image forming unit that is located downstream of the first image forming unit, forms an image of a developer of second color on a surface of a second image carrier and includes a contact member having a tip portion that contacts the surface of the second image carrier after the transferring, wherein the image forming apparatus performs at a predetermined frequency an operation that forms a predetermined image by attaching the developer of the second color to the surface of the second image carrier and causes the predetermined image on the surface of the second image carrier to pass between the surface of the second image carrier after the transferring and the tip portion of the contact member.
