Intervertebral implant with blades for connecting to adjacent vertebral bodies

An intervertebral implant for insertion into an intervertebral disc space between adjacent vertebral bodies or between two bone portions. The implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion operatively coupled to the spacer portion and one or more blades for securing the implant to the adjacent vertebral bodies. The blades preferably include superior and inferior cylindrical pins for engaging the adjacent vertebral bodies. The implant may be configured to be inserted via a direct lateral trans-psoas approach. Alternatively, the implant may be configured for insertion via an anterior approach.

A method for expanding a constricted location of a urethra of a subject, the method including inserting a urethral implant, and an implant sheath that covers the urethral implant, through the urethra for implanting the urethral implant in the constricted location, the urethral implant being in a compressed configuration within the implant sheath, releasing the urethral implant from the implant sheath until the urethral implant exits from the implant sheath, thereby expanding the urethral implant from the compressed configuration to an expanded configuration, applying, by the urethral implant, continuous pressure on tissues of the urethra at the constricted location, and retracting the implant sheath from the urethra.

A mastopexy implant for maintaining the breast in an elevated and aesthetically pleasing position includes a lower pole support comprising end portions which may be affixed to the chest wall or to a previously installed upper suspension strut. The implant is loaded in an insertion device. The insertion device is inserted through a small incision and into a subcutaneous pocket created in an inferior half of the breast. The lower pole support may have various constructs and in one embodiment includes a unitary conformable mesh having a plurality of arm or band members which are attached across the breast parenchyma and to the chest wall.

A hair implant includes: (a) a hair strand anchor including: an anchor body; at least one hair chamber disposed within the anchor body; and at least one tunnel through the anchor body, where the tunnel is free of a hair; and (b) at least one hair strand having a portion thereof retained in the at least one of the hair chamber; wherein the tunnel is configured to support collagen ligature growth after subcutaneous implantation by receiving and retaining collagen ligatures that anchor the hair implant to a hair implant recipient. Also disclosed is a hair implant including an anchor with first and second anchor bodies and at least one bridge connecting the anchor bodies and bridging at least one void between the anchor bodies, wherein the bridge supports and retains collagen ligature growth. One-piece implants are also disclosed, as are anchors, hair restoration and manufacturing methods.

A hair implant suitable for subcutaneous implantation is provided having an anchor comprising an anchor body, and at least one collagen receiving structure selected from the group consisting of at least one tunnel disposed through the anchor body and an external surface feature of the anchor body. The anchor further comprises at least one hair strand projecting from a distal end of the anchor body, wherein the at least one collagen receiving structure is configured to support collagen ligature growth after subcutaneous implantation of the hair implant to anchor the anchor to a hair implant recipient, and the collagen receiving structure is free of hair. A fracture line in the anchor body allows the body to fragment, thereby releasing collagen ligatures and allowing the implant fragments to “release” and fall out of the skin. The at least one hair strand may comprise a primary hair element with emerging hair elements.

Stent

In one embodiment according to the present invention, a stent is described having a generally cylindrical body formed from a single woven nitinol wire. The distal and proximal ends of the stent include a plurality of loops, some of which include marker members used for visualizing the position of the stent. In another embodiment, the previously described stent includes an inner flow diverting layer.

The present invention describes methods, devices and instruments for resurfacing or replacing facet joints, uncovertebral joints and costovertebral joints. The joints can be prepared by smoothing the articular surface on one side, by distracting the joint and by implant insertion.

Implants can be stabilized against a first articular surface by creating a high level of conformance with said first articular surface, while smoothing the second articular surface with a surgical instrument with a smooth mating implant surface.

The anchor further comprises at least one hair strand projecting from a distal end of the anchor body and alternatively wherein the at least one hair strand includes a bend, wherein the at least one collagen receiving structure, or the external surface feature, is configured to support collagen ligature growth after subcutaneous implantation of the hair implant so as to anchor the hair implant in the recipient. The hair implant includes a two-part construction having a base module formed of the anchor body and at least one hair stem configured for coupling with a long hair strand. Another hair implant alternative includes a hair strand having a first end that is passed through the skin, underneath and the up through the skin at another location to result in the hair strand having two portions projecting from the skin surface.
