A detachable device includes: a detachable member that is provided to be attachable to and detachable from an apparatus main body in which a first rotating member is provided and that comprises a second rotating member which is brought into press-contact with the first rotating member; a moving member that is provided in the apparatus main body, that holds the detachable member at an attachment position to the apparatus main body so as to maintain a press-contact load between the first rotating member and the second rotating member, and that is movable to a position at which the detachable member is not held by the moving member; and a release member as defined herein.

A paper correction apparatus B corrects a curl of a sheet S by passing the sheet S through curved paper conveying routes CCP1 and CCP2 whose curving amounts can be changed. The paper correction apparatus B is provided with a control unit B3 which sets the curving amounts of the curved paper conveying routes CCP1 and CCP2, and changes a sheet interval in accordance with the curving amounts which are set. By this configuration, it is possible to inhibit the productivity from being reduced due to paper correction during performing post-printing processes in a finisher which is located in the downstream side of the paper correction apparatus B.

A recording medium detecting device has: a sensor capable of detecting a recording medium from a first detection direction and a second detection direction different from the first detection direction; and a control unit. The control unit determines a grain direction of a recording medium from first surface property data obtained when the recording medium is detected from the first detection direction and second surface property data obtained when the recording medium is detected from the second detection direction.

A recording material cooing device includes a first unit provided with a first endless belt and a cooling member, a second unit provided with a second endless belt and a supporting member but not provided with a cooling member, a holding member and a fixing member. The holding member is fixed to a supporting frame and rotatably hold the supporting member in order to be rotated by a use. The fixing member is fixed the first supporting member to the holding member at any rotating position by the user.

A sheet cooling device includes a main assembly, a cooling unit, drawable out of the main assembly with respect to a drawing direction and a restricting member. The restricting member is positionable in a first position where the cooling unit is restricted from drawing out of the main assembly and in a second position lower than the first position where said restricting member opposes to an installation surface on which the sheet cooling device is installed.

A decurling device is provided on a downstream side with respect to a fixing device in a medium transporting direction and straightens a curl formed in a medium transported to the decurling device. The decurling device includes a bending unit extending across the medium transporting direction and that bends the medium in a decurling direction by coming into contact with a leading end of the medium; and a position adjusting unit that adjusts, in a medium crosswise direction, tilt of a contact part of the bending unit, the contact part coming into contact with the leading end of the medium exited from the fixing device.

A sheet correcting device includes a plurality of curved surface members including curved surfaces, respectively, to deform a sheet along the curved surfaces, the plurality of curved surface members disposed along a conveyance direction of the sheet, a plurality of pressing members disposed facing the curved surfaces of the plurality of curved surface members, respectively, to press the sheet against the curved surfaces of the plurality of curved surface members, respectively, a sheet tensioner to apply tension to the sheet, and a heater to heat the sheet that is bent by the curved surfaces of the plurality of curved surface members.

An image forming apparatus that forms images on sheets, includes: a collection unit configured to collect history information relating to operation of the image forming apparatus; a selection unit configured to select, from among a plurality of accomplishment items, an accomplishment item relating to the operation of the image forming apparatus based on the history information; an acquisition unit configured to notify a user of one or more operation options related to the operation of the image forming apparatus that are for accomplishing the accomplishment item selected by the selection unit, and to acquire a selection result of whether or not the one or more operation options are to be used; and an operation control unit configured to control the operation of the image forming apparatus in accordance with the selection result.

A decurling device is provided on a downstream side with respect to a fixing device in a medium transporting direction and straightens a curl formed in a medium transported to the decurling device. The decurling device includes a bending unit extending across the medium transporting direction and having a guiding surface that guides a leading end of the medium, the leading end coming into contact with the guiding surface, the bending unit bending the medium in a decurling direction by using the guiding surface; an urging unit that urges the bending unit toward the medium; and a single or plural rotating members provided on a part of the guiding surface of the bending unit and rotating by coming into contact with the medium that is in contact with the guiding surface.

An image forming apparatus includes a control unit to perform a first conveyance process in which a sheet is conveyed in a second direction opposite to a first direction at a first speed by a reverse conveyance roller pair, a second conveyance process in which the sheet is conveyed at a second speed by a decurler, and a third conveyance process in which the sheet is conveyed to an inlet roller pair at a third speed by a conveyance roller pair, with the second speed being slower than the first speed, and the third speed being different from the first and second speeds. An image forming unit conveys the sheet at a fourth speed while transferring the image onto the sheet, the fourth speed being slower than the first speed, the second speed, and the third speed.
