According to one embodiment of the preset specification, a method for controlling a wearable device for displaying visual information on a first display area and on a second display area can comprises the steps of: detecting that the wearable device has been changed to a charging state; displaying first visual information on a first display area; displaying second visual information on a second display area; detecting an event relating to a first application while the wearable device is in a charging state; and displaying, on the second display area, third visual information relating to the first application. At this time, the first visual information of the first display area can be displayed on a display unit of the wearable device, and the second visual information of the second display area can be displayed on the basis of a light source projected outside of the wearable device.

Modular light assembly for a wearable device
12093088 · 2024-09-17 · ·

A modular light assembly is designed for integration with wearable devices. For example, the modular light assembly can connect with a wearable device, such as a smartwatch, including both a device housing and a band of the wearable device. Additionally, the modular light assembly can receive communication from the wearable device through various means, including inductive energy transfer. As a result, the modular light assembly can receive communication from the wearable device to activate (turn on) or deactivate (turn off) one or more light sources of the modular light assembly. Additionally, or alternatively, the modular light assembly device may include a button coupled to a switch that can activate or deactivate the light source(s).

Circular backlight for a liquid crystal display
10061073 · 2018-08-28 · ·

A liquid crystal display (LCD) device including a circular backlight that illuminates an LCD panel. The backlight is disposed behind the LCD panel and includes a light guide and an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The light guide includes a circular top surface, a circular bottom surface, and a connecting surface between the top and bottom surface. The array of LEDs are disposed along the connecting side surface of the light guide in a circular arrangement to emit light into in first directions toward a center of the light guide. The light guide receives the light from the array of LEDs in the first directions and directs the light in a second direction toward the LCD panel from the circular top surface. The backlight can include brightness enhancement films (BEFS), such as first BEF having concentric circular stripe prisms, and a second BEF having radial stripe prisms.
