An electronic device includes a flexible display and a device housing that defines a translation surface for the flexible display. A support layer is positioned between a portion of the flexible display and the translation surface. A rotor positioned within a curvilinear section of the flexible display causes a linear translation of the support layer across the translation surface by drawing the flexible substrate around the rotor. A flexible support structure can be positioned between the support layer and the flexible display, with the flexible support structure defining a plurality of engagement teeth with ends extending under one or more housing rails to prevent pillowing of the flexible display.

Housing structure and terminal device

Embodiments of this application disclose a housing structure and a terminal device. The housing structure includes a bottom shell and a lifting shell. A first end of the bottom shell is connected to a first end of the lifting shell, a second end of the bottom shell and a second end of the lifting shell are spaced by a first distance, and space between the bottom shell and the lifting shell forms a heat dissipation channel. A heat dissipation panel is disposed on the bottom shell, a first surface of the heat dissipation panel is in contact with a heat emitting component, and a second surface of the heat dissipation panel is located in the heat dissipation channel. Therefore, the housing structure provided in the embodiments of this application can better dissipate heat for the heat emitting component in the bottom shell.

The disclosure discloses an electronic device including a flexible display having an expandable display area. The disclosed electronic device may include: a housing including a first cover disposed to face a first direction, a second cover disposed to face a second direction opposite to the first direction, and a side member enclosing at least part of a space between the first and second covers; a slider to be inserted or withdrawn by being disposed to at least part of an area of the first cover of the housing; a flexible display disposed in the slider such that at least part thereof is exposed, and disposed to allow a display area to be expanded according to the withdrawing of the slider and allow the expanded display area to be hidden inside the housing; and a support body mounted closely in contact on a bottom face of the flexible display, supporting the expanded display area as a prop when the slider is withdrawn, and disposed to be housed inside the housing together with the expanded display area when the slider is inserted.

The form factor of the compact state is roughly the size of a typical handheld phone or smaller. The form factor of each of the expanded states is roughly the size of a tablet computer. An internal mechanism is provided for synching the motion of the device's expansion with the motion of the flexible display's end plate which provides a force to guide the display around the roller located at the edge of the device. The device may further include an integrated speaker and microphone, and sensors to indicate the expanded position of the display.
