Audit record aggregation in a storage network
11537470 · 2022-12-27 · ·

A method for execution by a dispersed storage and task (DST) processing unit includes obtaining audit records for an audit object and determining when the audit object is complete. When the audit object is complete, aggregating the audit records of the audit object within the audit object by generating the audit object to include the audit records; generating identifier (ID) information and generating integrity information. Fields of the audit object are populated with the audit records, the ID information, and the integrity information and a name of the audit object is determined for storage of the audit object and the name of the audit object in a dispersed storage network (DSN).

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SOFTWARE MIGRATION BASED ON CAPABILITIES OF HOST DEVICE

An electronic apparatus is configured to generate current capability parameters associated with a software object executing on the electronic apparatus. The current capability parameters include an indication of resources required to execute the software object. The electronic apparatus determines whether the resources required to execute the software object are approaching a limit. The determination may be made by comparison to a threshold value. If the resources required to execute the software object are approaching the limit, then the electronic apparatus identifies a suitable target host based on the current capability parameters and initiates a migration of the software object to the suitable target.

TWO-WAY REAL TIME COMMUNICATION SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS ASYMMETRIC PARTICIPATION IN CONVERSATIONS ACROSS MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC PLATFORMS

Methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for receiving a first communication request, from a web browser of a user. A first responder requests information and a response to the request for information is received as part of a conversation. A conversation identifier is used to store the conversation. Based on the conversation, the conversation is determined to stop and a second responder is identified. The conversation is then transferred to the second responder.

Snapshot-based data corruption detection

Embodiments described herein detect data corruption in a distributed data set system. For example, a system comprises node(s) for processing queries with respect to a distributed data set comprising a plurality of storage segments. A write transaction resulting from a query with respect to a particular storage segment is logged in a log record that describes a modification to the storage segment. A log service provides the log record to a data server managing a portion of the distributed data set in which the storage segment is included, which performs the write transaction with respect to the storage segment. For redundancy purposes, the data server has replica(s) that manage respective replicas of the portion of the distributed data set managed thereby. For backup purposes, snapshots of the replica(s) are periodically generated. To determine a data corruption, a snapshot of one replica is cross-validated with a snapshot of another replica.

Alternative storage node communication channel using storage devices group in a distributed storage system

An apparatus comprises at least one processing device that includes a processor coupled to a memory. The processing device is configured to associate a first storage node with at least a second storage node in a plurality of storage nodes of a distributed storage system, each such storage node comprising a plurality of storage devices, to establish a storage devices group comprising specified ones of the storage devices of the first and second storage nodes, to detect an issue with a first communication channel to the first storage node, and responsive to the detected issue, to communicate with the first storage node via the second storage node, utilizing an alternative communication channel involving one or more storage devices of the storage devices group. The storage devices group may comprise a designated subset of storage devices within a common disk array enclosure (DAE) shared by the first and second storage nodes.

Methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for receiving a first communication request, from a web browser of a first user. A request for information is sent, using a first active communication protocol, to the web browser. A first communication as part of the first conversation is received from the first user. A responder sends a communication to the first user. A first conversation identifier is identified and used to store the conversation of the first user. The responder sends a communication to a second user. A second active communication protocol is determined and used to send the communication. A second conversation identifier is identified and used to store the conversation of the second user.

Enablement of software defined storage solution for NVME over ethernet fabric management on storage controller

A computer system includes a BMC and a host of the BMC. The BMC receives a first message from a first remote device on a management network. The BMC determines whether the first message is directed to a storage service or fabric service executed on a main processor of a storage controller of the host. The host is a storage device. The storage controller includes an RDMA controller in communication with the main processor through an internal communication channel of the storage controller. The RDMA controller is managed by the storage service. The BMC extracts a service management command from the first message, when the first message is directed to the storage service or fabric service. The BMC sends, through a BMC communication channel established for communicating baseboard management commands between the BMC and the host, a second message containing the service management command to the host.

Auto-provisioning and auto-installation of server SAN target

A computer system includes a BMC and a host of the BMC. The BMC redirect, through a BMC communication channel, a local media including a disk management tool to a host of the BMC as a particular drive. The host is a storage device connected to one or more storage drives. The disk management tool is configured to prepare a storage area of the one or more storage drives for installation of storage service on the host. The storage service managing a RDMA controller at the host. The BMC configures the host to boot from the particular drive. The BMC sends a first instruction to the host instructing the BMC to reboot. The BMC receives from the host a command for reading the disk management tool. The BMC sends the disk management tool to the host.
