A method includes establishing a session between a first client device and a host device to run an application on the first client device. The method includes receiving an indication to transfer the session from the first client device to a second client device. The method includes storing, in response to receiving the indication, state information of the application for the session. The method includes generating a pointer associated with the session. The method includes generating a scannable code including the pointer. The method includes scanning the displayed scannable code using an imaging element associated with the second client device. The method includes transferring, using the pointer, the session from the first client device to the second client device using the stored state information so that a second display associated with the second client device displays a most recently updated instance of the application from the first client device.

An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a memory configured to store at least one first information provided from an external server in connection with operating electronic payment, a display configured to output a user interface (UI) accompanied with the electronic payment, and a processor configured to be electrically connected with the memory and the display. The processor is configured to detect at least one second information associated with an environment where the electronic device is operated, determine a product to perform the electronic payment, based on the first information and the second information, and include and output information about the product and payment information associated with payment of the product on a specified region of the UI.

There is a technique that displays a QR code in which a URL of an error information site is embedded on a display in a case where an error occurs in a printer or the like and allows an access to the error information site by a mobile terminal capturing the QR code. However, on a condition that the size of the display is small, there is a case where it is not possible to display the QR code in which the URL of the error information site is embedded. In an electronic device mounting a display, an access code indicating first resource specification information for redirect is created and the created access code is displayed on the display. Then, the first resource specification information has a data amount corresponding to an access code of a size than can be displayed on the display.

The invention provides an alternative applications programming interface (API) for a software application to interface with and to control and coordinate the operation of a variety of specialty devices, including a barcode scanning device and a label printing device. In some embodiments, this alternative API is provided via a software application interface module (SAIM) that is remotely accessible to a software application module (SAM) via a computer network. The SAIM provides for interface and control of specialty devices that would otherwise be un-accessible to a software application module (SAM), via employment of a device specific interface module (DSIM), which functions like a device driver to specialty devices that can be geographically distributed away from the software application module (SAM) and sway from the software application interface module (SAIM), and also function in circumstances where the software application module (SAM) is mobile.

An example method for implementing a charitable giving experience can include: receiving a scanned image of a logo of a charity at an augmented reality (AR) electronic device, the logo including a graphic associated with the charity; after receiving the scanned image, displaying at least the logo and details related to the charity on the AR electronic device; displaying a control on the AR electronic device, wherein the control corresponds to one or more charitable giving opportunities associated with the charity; receiving a selection of the control on the AR electronic device; and initiating a charitable giving to the charity from the AR electronic device.

A quick response code system and methods of associating a quick response code with an item of interest are the subject of the present disclosure. In one embodiment, the system includes a code tool and an information modification tool. The code generation tool is configured to generate a quick response code that associates the item of interest with a record in a data repository, while the information modification tool that allows a user to access, view and modify information associated with the record. According to varying embodiments, the system prompts a first user to share the quick response code and the associated record with a second user.

A method, apparatus, and software are provided for using an optically-readable code such as a quick-response (QR) code. The optically-readable code may represent a uniform resource identifier (URI) including parameters that represent a query, such as a query for content and/or other data. The query results may be used to command a content consumption device to record or otherwise obtain an item of content. The optically-readable code may additionally or alternatively be determined based upon a status of the device, such as what content, or portion thereof, is currently being displayed, and/or what error condition is being experienced.

Mobile phones and other portable devices are equipped with a variety of technologies by which existing functionality can be improved, and new functionality can be provided. Some aspects relate to visual search capabilities, and determining appropriate actions responsive to different image inputs. Others relate to processing of image data. Still others concern metadata generation, processing, and representation. Yet others concern user interface improvements. Other aspects relate to imaging architectures, in which a mobile phone's image sensor is one in a chain of stages that successively act on packetized instructions/data, to capture and later process imagery. Still other aspects relate to distribution of processing tasks between the mobile device and remote resources (“the cloud”). Elemental image processing (e.g., simple filtering and edge detection) can be performed on the mobile phone, while other operations can be referred out to remote service providers. The remote service providers can be selected using techniques such as reverse auctions, through which they compete for processing tasks. A packaged redeemable code system is disclosed. The packaged redeemable code system includes a paper insert having a front surface with a removable item, and a rear surface with redeemable code. The packaged redeemable code system further includes a paper sleeve having an interior that encloses the paper insert and conceals the redeemable code. The paper sleeve also having a ripcord configured to open an edge of the paper sleeve to provide an access point for removal of the paper insert. The paper sleeve further having a front surface with a cutout extending therethrough. The cutout aligns with and provides visual access to the removable item. The removable item is a different color than or provides contrast with the front surface of the paper sleeve. The paper sleeve further having a rear surface with an activation code that is associated with the redeemable code.
