Systems and methods for performing payment transactions
A wearable payment device, such as a finger ring worn by a user, communicates payment data to a payment reader that uses the payment data in order to request a payment transaction. Such wearable payment device may be conveniently carried by and accessible to the user such that utilization of the payment device for the payment transaction is less burdensome for the user, thereby encouraging use of the payment device for payments. Indeed, in some cases, such as when the payment device is implemented as a finger ring or other type of jewelry, the user may be encouraged to carry the payment device in an exposed manner such that it is readily available for the payment transaction without the user having to search in a wallet, pocket, or purse.
Wearable payment device with tunable antenna
A wearable payment device, such as a finger ring worn by a user, communicates payment data via an antenna to a payment reader that uses the payment data in order to request a payment transaction. The wearable payment device can tune the antenna to enhance performance of the antenna. The wearable payment device can measure a characteristic of the antenna and perform an assessment of the performance of the antenna based on the measured characteristic. The antenna can be tuned, such as by changing the impedance of the antenna, based on the assessed performance of the antenna.

Systems and methods for performing payment transactions
A system for performing payment transactions includes a wearable payment device, such as a finger ring worn by a user, that communicates payment data to a payment reader that uses the payment data in order to request a payment transaction. The system also includes a mobile communication device that receives an input associated with the payment transaction from the user and wirelessly transmits information to the wearable payment device based on the input. The wearable payment device can use the information from the mobile communication device for performing the payment transaction and transmit at least a portion of the information from the mobile communication device to the payment reader during the payment transaction.

Pressure based wireless sensor and applications thereof
A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag includes an antenna, an analog front end, a processing circuit, and memory. The analog front end includes a power circuit, a tuning circuit, a transmitter, and a receiver. The power circuit is operably coupled to convert a radio frequency (RF) signal into a power supply voltage. The tuning circuit, when enabled, adjusts an RF characteristic of the analog front end to tune power harvesting from the RF signal. The transmitter is operably coupled to transmit a response signal to the RFID reader via the antenna. The receiver is operably coupled to receive a command signal from the RFID reader, wherein the command signal is contained within a portion of the RF signal. The processing circuit is operable to interpret the command signal and generate the response signal.
Reading of an electromagnetic resonant structure by a separated transmitter and receiver
A resonant structure includes a conductive surface layer on a dielectric layer that produces an enhanced or reduced backscattered radiation in one or more resonant frequency bands when illuminated with electromagnetic energy. A transmitter illuminates the resonant structure with the electromagnetic energy at a first angle relative to the normal of the conductive surface. A receiver is operable to detect the enhanced or reduced backscattered radiation at the resonant frequency bands at a second angle relative to the normal of the conductive surface. The second angle is different from the first angle by at least five degrees. A processor coupled to the receiver and is operable to detect data encoded in one or both of a frequency response and a polarization response of the resonant structure based on the detected enhanced or reduced backscattered radiation.
RFID TAG INFORMATION READING APPARATUS AND METHOD
Provided are an RFID tag information reading apparatus and method, including a signal management circuit, configured to output an operation frequency signal; a resonant circuit, configured to receive the operation frequency signal, adjust a capacitance value and an inductance value of the resonant circuit according to the operation frequency signal, so that the resonant circuit generates a resonance for generating a sine wave signal at a frequency point of the operation frequency signal, the resonant circuit is further configured to generate an electromagnetic wave from the sine wave signal, radiate the electromagnetic wave to a tag, and trigger the tag to return a tag identity signal; and a decoding identification circuit, configured to identify tag information according to the tag identity signal returned by the tag; where the signal management circuit is connected with the resonant circuit, and the resonant circuit is connected with the decoding identification circut.
