The data reader further includes an illumination system including optics arranged to direct light from one or more illumination sources along one of a variety of different optical paths to illuminate the field of view of the data reader with one of a plurality of light patterns. The data reader also includes an active element controllable to selectively direct the light along one of the optical paths.

Dynamically changing a fiducial marker for IoT device identification

The techniques described herein enable a head-mounted display device to use a fiducial marker to identify an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The head-mounted display device can use the identifier to establish a network connection with the IoT device. For example, the identifier can include an Internet Protocol (IP) address, a Bluetooth address, a cloud IoT identifier (e.g., AZURE hub IoT identifier), or another type of an identifier. By using an electronic paper display, the IoT device can dynamically generate and display a new fiducial marker when a new identifier is assigned to the IoT device or is generated by the IoT device. Consequently, the head-mounted display device can detect the fiducial marker and extract the identifier for the IoT device from the fiducial marker so that the identifier can be used to establish a network connection with the IoT device.

IMAGING MODULE AND READER FOR, AND METHOD OF, READING A TARGET BY IMAGE CAPTURE WITH A VISUALLY ENHANCED AIMING LIGHT PATTERN

An imaging sensor of an imaging reader senses return light from a target to be read by image capture along an imaging axis over a field of view that extends along mutually orthogonal, horizontal and vertical axes. Two aiming light assemblies are offset from the sensor, and direct an aiming light pattern at the target. The pattern has an aiming mark in a central area of the pattern, and a pair of aiming light lines that are collinear along the horizontal axis. The visibility of the aiming mark is enhanced by optically configuring the aiming mark to be different in brightness and/or color and/or size and/or state of existence relative to a remaining area of the pattern. The aiming mark of enhanced visibility constitutes a prominent visual indicator of a center zone of the field of view.

Apparatus for recognizing character and barcode simultaneously and method for controlling the same

A method for controlling a character and barcode recognition apparatus by receiving an image including at least one text image and at least one barcode, dividing the received image into a text area and a barcode area, the text area including the at least one text image and the barcode area including the at least one barcode, recognizing at least one character in the text area by performing character recognition on the text area, and recognizing the at least one barcode in the barcode area by performing barcode recognition on the barcode area.

A screen display ratio adjusting apparatus includes a handheld device and a display device. The handheld device includes an application module which obtains an image of a pre-stored picture being displayed on a display interface of the display device (“test picture”). The pre-stored picture includes a first section and a second section. The application module calculates respective lengths and widths of the first and second sections from the test picture. The application module further calculates a display size ratio between the first section and the second section, and adjusts a display size of the first section. The display device is then configured to display the first section in an adjusted size. A screen display ratio adjusting method is also provided.

IMAGING BARCODE READER WITH COLOR-SEPARATED AIMER AND ILLUMINATOR
20170300728 · 2017-10-19 ·

A scanner for machine-readable symbols, such as barcodes and two-dimensional matrix symbols, employs at least two different light frequencies (colors). The first frequency supports accurate aiming of the scanner at a symbol. The second frequency supports illumination of a machine-readable symbol so that the reflected illumination light can be read at the second frequency by the scanner's optical imaging element. Employing two different light frequencies enables both aiming and scanning to occur simultaneously, while the aiming process does not interfere with the scanning process. It enables the aiming frequency to be used for additional purposes, such as providing signaling to a user of the scanner. In an embodiment, two distinct light sources are used in the scanner to provide the different light frequencies. In an embodiment, various color filters are employed to separate and distinguish light frequencies. In an embodiment, signal processing may be employed to digitally distinguish multiple separate frequencies in light reflected from the symbol.
