APPARATUSES AND COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHODS FOR GEOMETRIC IMAGE CROPPING FOR IMPROVED IMAGE PROCESSING

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to utilizing geometric image cropping for improved image processing. Such geometric image cropping improves efficiency and/or throughput of various image processing tasks, for example for reading a machine-readable symbology via a specially-configured scanner. Some embodiments generate cropping parameter(s) using raytracing projections from lens data and ranging data for use in cropping image(s). Some embodiments generate cropping parameter(s) using magnification estimation for use in cropping image(s). Generated cropping parameter(s) may be stored via a reader, for example to a range-parameter table, to efficiently be retrieved and utilized for cropping subsequently captured images while remaining accurate and efficient for image processing.

Colocated shared augmented reality without shared backend

Methods and systems are disclosed for creating a shared augmented reality (AR) session. The methods and systems perform operations comprising: receiving, by a client device, input that selects a shared augmented reality (AR) experience from a plurality of shared AR experiences; in response to receiving the input, determining one or more resources associated with the selected shared AR experience; determining, by the client device, that two or more users are located within a threshold proximity of the client device; and activating the selected shared AR experience in response to determining that the two or more users are located within the threshold proximity of the client device.

A file decompression method to increase speed of display applied in a foldable electronic device includes receiving an image file, compressed into a much smaller form, from a peripheral device, and displaying the received file at least on the second display area, and transmitting a first control signal to an image sensor. The first control signal controls the image sensor to scan the image file on the second display area to identify image and compression data therein and information as to such data is obtained from the image sensor. If the data permits decompression and decompression is performed, the image is displayed as a match of the original uncompressed file.

Image reader comprising CMOS based image sensor array

The invention features an image reader and a corresponding method for capturing a sharp distortion free image of a target, such as a one or two-dimensional bar code. In one embodiment, the image reader comprises a two-dimensional CMOS based image sensor array, a timing module, an illumination module, and a control module. The time during which the target is illuminated is referred to as the illumination period. The capture of the image by the image sensor array is driven by the timing module that, in one embodiment, is able to simultaneously expose substantially all of the pixels in the array. The time during which the pixels are collectively activated to photo-convert incident light into charge defines the exposure period for the sensor array. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the exposure period occurs during the illumination period.

Gaming chip and management system

A management system includes a recording device recording an image of a gaming chip and an inspection device determining a type and authenticity of the gaming chip. The gaming chip has a multilayer structure in which both sides of a colored layer are sandwiched between light color layers, surface printing representing a type of the gaming chip is performed on outer sides of the light color layers, and an authenticity recognition mark is printed on the colored layer of an inside of the light color layers by an infrared absorbing material. A visible light camera photographs a visible light image of the surface printing, and an infrared light camera photographs an infrared image of the internal printing. The inspection device determines the type and authenticity of the gaming chip using the visible light image and the infrared image.

PRODUCT TAGS AND PRODUCT SCANNING DEVICES AND METHODS

A product scanner apparatus includes an image capturing device to image an object using visible light. A first reading module is configured to attempt to read a barcode symbol in a captured image from the image capturing device. The barcode symbol provides an identification of the object when read. A second reading module is configured to attempt to read digital watermark information on a product tag affixed to the object. A controller is configured to control the image capturing device to capture an image of the object, control the first reading module to read the barcode symbol, and then control the second reading module to read digital watermark information only if the barcode symbol is successfully read. The product tag includes visible text printed on a surface thereof and the digital water information encodes discount information corresponding to the visible text.

CODED SCAN-BASED ITEM PROCESSING

A retail store is comprised of a retail space having billboard paper with images of items and item codes for purchasing the items. The retail store further includes a pick area where physical items of the store are located. A device operated by a user scans the item codes and the item codes are communicated to a server for item information and item pricing. As item identifiers are moved to a cart depicted on the device by the user, the server communicates the item details to a display device in the pick area where corresponding items are picked for a transaction of the user in real time. When the user checks out and pays for the items in the cart, the user retrieves the bagged items for the transaction from a pickup drive-thru accessible from an external area of the retail store where the pick area is located.
