An apparatus detects a plurality of areas from an overall image, determines on each of the plurality of areas whether the area is a candidate for an area including an object as a processing target based on a determination reference value (first determination processing), acquires a zoom-in image of the area determined to be the candidate for the area including the object in the first determination processing, and determines whether the acquired zoom-in image is an image of the object (second determination processing). The apparatus identifies an area, in the overall image, corresponding to the zoom-in image determined not to be the image of the object in the second determination processing, and performs control to update the determination reference value used in the first determination processing based on image information of the identified area in the overall image.

Glare Mitigation Techniques in Symbologies

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for glare mitigation techniques include: obtaining images containing a representation of a mark, the images comprising multiple poses of the mark and generating a single image from the images that contain a representation of the mark with reduced glare when compared to the images comprising multiple poses of the mark. The single image is provided for processing of the representation of the mark to identify information associated with the mark.

There is provided a barcode detection device including an image sensor and a processor. The image sensor captures an image frame of a barcode. The processor calculates a gradient vector of bars of the barcode in the image frame for determining a rotation angle of the image sensor. The rotation angle is used to calibrate a detected bar width.

Performance improvements for recognition of optical patterns in images using incremental magnification
11803719 · 2023-10-31 · ·

Incremental magnification is used to decode optical patterns, such a barcodes, in a scene. A first image of a scene is acquired using a first magnification of a camera, wherein the first image comprises a barcode. The barcode cannot be decoded. The magnification of the camera is increased by a predetermined magnification from the first magnification to a second magnification. A second image is acquired of the scene, including the barcode. The barcode is decoded after acquiring the second image.
