Method for managing the operation of an object that is able to contactlessly communicate with a reader

A method for managing the operation of an object capable of contactless communication with a reader magnetically coupled to the object includes a phase for transmission of information from the object to the reader and includes a modulation of the impedance of a load connected across the terminals of the antenna of the object. Prior to the transmission phase, a monitoring phase includes a monitoring of the level of amplitude modulation of a modulated test signal present at the antenna of the object and resulting from a test modulation of the impedance of the load and a capacitive modification of the impedance of the load if this level is lower than a threshold.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING OPENING OF OR AN ATTEMPT TO OPEN A CLOSED CONTAINER

A method is presented for monitoring a tampering state of closed container wherein a first electrically conductive wire extends across a slot between two portions of the closed container. The method includes applying a voltage across the first electrically conductive wire, sensing a voltage at one end of the first electrically conductive wire, and generating a signal indicating the tampering state of the closed container in response to the sensed voltage. The sensed voltage has a first voltage value if the first electrically conductive wire has been severed by tampering, and this tampered state is then reported using near field communication. The near field communication is blocked if it is sensed that the severed first electrically conductive wire has been repaired.

System and method for managing retail product inventory

In some embodiments, system, apparatuses, and methods are provided herein useful for managing retail product inventory including a plurality of sensors configured to detect individual presence of multiple different products within a retail shopping facility. A central control system communicatively coupled with the plurality of sensors to receive sensor information comprising identifiers detected by the plurality of sensors. The central control system comprises a central control circuit coupled with memory storing code that when implemented causes the central control circuit to: access the received sensor information and determine, at a current time and for each detected first product, a confidence value corresponding to a level of confidence that the first product is still present and within a first threshold area corresponding to a first location where the first product was most recently sensed. The confidence value may decay over time proportional to a first decay period of time.

SYSTEM AND COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING DEFECTIVE CHIP CARDS THROUGH SUBSTANDARD TRANSACTION EXPERIENCES

A system and computer-implemented method for analyzing chip card transactions to identify defective chip cards and/or defective chip readers in need of replacement. Constraints are established to define a subset of card transactions. From a full set of card transactions the subset is identified consisting of each card transaction falling within the constraints and occurring at a merchant having a chip reader. From this subset the unique chip cards are identified, and for each unique chip card a percentage of fallback transactions is calculated. The percentage of fallback transactions is compared to a maximum value, and if the percentage of fallback transactions exceeds the maximum value, the chip card is identified as defective. Each defective chip card is reported to the card issuer, along with at least a recommendation to replace the defective chip card. A similar process may be used to identify defective chip readers of particular merchants.

A handheld tape dispenser is configured to store a roll of tape within a frame, the roll of tape comprising a plurality of segments of tape each corresponding to a tape node and comprising one or more electronic components. The handheld tape dispenser drives mechanical components of the handheld tape dispenser to draw tape along a tape feed path, resulting in a segment of tape being removed from the roll of tape for deployment. The handheld tape dispenser determines a unique identifier of a tape node corresponding to the removed segment of tape, associates the unique identifier of the tape node with an asset corresponding to the tape node, and stores the association in a local memory. In real-time or at a later time, the handheld tape dispenser transmits the association to a wireless tracking system.
