Modulating mobile-device displays based on ambient signals to reduce the likelihood of fraud
Provided is a process of classifying ambient signals to reduce fraudulent use of information, the process including: receiving, with the mobile computing device, from a remote server, balance-access information by which a stored value card balance can be spent at a point of sale terminal; storing, with the mobile computing device, the balance-access information; sensing, with one or more sensors of a mobile computing device, ambient signals; classifying the ambient signals as indicating the user is in a retail establishment; and in response to the classification, displaying, on a display screen of the mobile computing device, the balance-access information, such that the balance-access information can be input to a point-of-sale terminal.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND TERMINAL DEVICE
A terminal device includes: an information medium payout device that pays out an information medium associated with balance information representing a balance of a game value according to a result of a game; and a transmission device that transmits information medium identification information unique to the paid-out information medium, insertion information representing the inserted game value associated with the information medium identification information, game information representing a history of a game executed based upon the inserted game value, the balance information, and gaming machine identification information identifying the gaming machine in which the balance information is generated to an information processing device, and the information processing device includes a history information storage device that stores the information medium identification information as unique history information associated with the information medium identification information, and a determination device that determines a game dependent state of a player based upon the history information.
System and method for establishing a public ledger for gift card transactions
Disclosed is a method for providing fraud protection and transaction tracing for gift card accounts through use of a public blockchain ledger. Digital gift cards are associated with tokens which are passed between user accounts. The users do not obtain direct access to the debit codes assigned to the gift cards and are instead provided with variable authentication codes for use in merchant purchases. The variable authentication code is used by a merchant to obtain a reference to an actual debit code held by a web server. Numerous types of transactions are published to the blockchain ledger including initial purchases, reserving/claiming of debit codes, transfers of tokens between accounts, and depleting of gift card value associated with a token. Transactions published to the blockchain occur substantially simultaneously with a merchant purchase such that users may look up gift card values at any time to be assured each gift card is valid.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PAYMENT TRACKING OF PURCHASES
A beverage dispensing system employs a user-wearable device that contains identification data. The user is associated with the wearable device using the identification data and provides an initial purchase credit also stored in association with the wearable device. To make a purchase, the user positions the wearable device in proximity with a sensor co-located with a beverage dispenser. The sensor receives the identification data and provides it to a payment processor. The processor determines if the purchase request is less than the stored purchase credit and, if so, activates an actuator positioned between a beverage storage container and a beverage dispenser outlet to thereby dispense the beverage. The processor deducts the purchase amount from the available credit and stores the new credit value. The wearable device may communicate wirelessly with the sensor. The processor may be part of the beverage dispenser or remotely located and communicate via a network.
Activation and assigning value to gift cards using RFID
The present disclosure and related inventions describe a system and method by which gift cards may be user-activated and assigned value using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). The user-activated gift card contains an RFID chip embedded therein that works in conjunction with a mobile website or mobile app to allow users to activate and assign value to the gift card at any time and at any place.
Stored-Value Card Management Method and System
A computerized system for activating, issuing and otherwise managing transactions and activities pertaining to stored-value cards over a communications network. A central information database is provided for storing stored-value cardholder and card purchaser information received directly from respective stored-value cardholders and card purchasers PCs through a universal central processor via respective communication gateways. The central processor is coupled for communication realtime to multiple unaffiliated stored-value card processing networks normally operated by respective hosts. Each network includes a stored-value card processor coupled to a stored-value card database and multiple respective merchant communication devices. The central processor is programmed for managing the activation and issuance of transactions and activities for the stored-value card through the respective unaffiliated networks. The universal central processor is programmed to issue the stored-value cards directly to the cardholder or card purchaser by download over respective communication gateways. The universal central processor is further programmed for reporting the card activations, issuances, transactions and activities to the cardholders and the merchants thereby providing a universal management system.
DELIVERY OF INFORMATION SERVICES TO PERSONAL DEVICES
A transaction processing system for sending user information data to a personal device, and an associated method are provided. The system comprises: a personal device, such as a balance display card; an interface device, such as a card reader for transmitting data to and from the card; a communications network connecting to the interface device; an issuer processor connected to the communications network; and a trusted network processor (TNP) processor connected to the communications network, interposed between the interface device and the issuer processor. The TNP processor is arranged to receive a transaction request message from a card user and to transmit a response message back to the personal device, the response message typically being a transaction authorization together with information for display on the card. The TNP processor is arranged to identify, dependent on properties of the transaction request message, whether the associated response message will require data to be sent to the user information device, and if so identified, to: route the transaction request message to the issuer processor using a standard message; receive the required data from the issuer processor using another standard message; match the received required data to the original request; generate an appropriate response message and script containing the required data; and transmit the response message back to the personal device thereby making the required information known to the user.
Object device including an IC chip
An information processing system, method for use with the system, information providing system, and method for use with the system, an information processing apparatus, method for use with the apparatus, a doll, an object, a program storage medium, and a program for authenticating users reliably are provided. A user acquires beforehand a doll called Pochara the Good Friend incorporating an IC chip that stores a user ID for authenticating the user. When the user mounts the doll on a platform connected to a personal computer, the user ID is read from the IC chip by a reader housed in the platform and transmitted over the Internet to a Pochara service server. The server has a Pochara database holding personal information about users of the service. The transmitted user ID is checked against the personal information in the database for authentication. This invention applies advantageously to servers offering services through networks.
