MANAGING A FREQUENCY OF PRESENTATION OF A CONTENT ITEM ASSOCIATED WITH A CATEGORY WITHIN A HIERARCHICAL TAXONOMY TO A USER OF AN ONLINE SYSTEM
An online system organizes content items based on assignments of the content items to categories within a hierarchical taxonomy. The online system tracks the progress of each online system user towards frequency caps applied to the categories. A user who reaches a frequency cap applied to a category is included in an exclusion group associated with the category, making them ineligible to be presented with content items associated with the category. Upon identifying an opportunity to present content to a viewing user, the online system determines whether the user is included in an exclusion group associated with a category. If not, the online system may present a content item associated with the category to the user, update the user's progress towards a frequency cap applied to the category, and determine whether to include the viewing user in the exclusion group based on the updated progress and the frequency cap.
MOVIE ADVERTISING PLAYBACK SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An ad in a movie can be a static ad having a position in the movie that cannot be moved, or a dynamic ad having a position in the movie that can be changed. When a viewer wishes to skip a portion of the movie containing the ad, the playback system determines whether the ad is static or dynamic. If the ad is static, only the portion of the movie preceding the static ad can be skipped; the ad is unskippable. This technique is referred to as bounceback since the end of the skip bounces back to the start of the static ad. If the ad is dynamic, it is moved to after the end of the skip. This technique is referred to as slip-ad since the ad slips to later in the movie. When a movie has multiple ads, some can be static and some can be dynamic.
Matching user provided representations of items with sellers of those items
This disclosure describes systems and methods for matching user provided images that include representations of items with sellers of those items. A management service, as described herein, may provide a web site where users can post images, view images, share images, correspond with other users, etc. The management service may identify items represented in the images and determine one or more sellers that offer those items for sale. When another user requests to view the user provided image, the image, seller information identifying the seller determined to sell the item represented in the image, and/or a purchase control that may be selected by a user to initiate a purchase with the seller is presented.
Location-Based Content Aggregation and Distribution
In one embodiment, a method includes storing one or more content postings, where each content posting is associated with one or more first users and each content posting is associated with one or more geographic locations corresponding to accessing of the content posting. The method also includes selectively sending one or more of the content postings for display on an access device based on a past or present geographic location of the access device, where the access device is associated with a second user, and for each content posting selectively sent for display on the access device, one or more of the geographic locations associated with the accessing of the content posting being within a predefined proximity of the past or present geographic location of the access device is requisite to the content posting being sent for display on the access device.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INTERROGATING AND PROCESSING CODES
An interrogating and processing system and method is described. A wireless communication device interrogates an information source, having a barcode or tag, and wirelessly transmits data indicative of the information source. The interrogator can be built into or adjunct to the wireless communication device. An automated processing subsystem receives the transmitted data and identifies an item corresponding to the data. A fulfillment subsystem effects delivery of the item to a destination. There can be a coupon code scanning and processing system and method. A wireless computing device having an interrogator reads a coupon code. An automated processing subsystem receives the corresponding data and provides a benefit associated with the coupon. The benefit can be a discount on a product or service. Alternatively, at least a portion of the coupon including a code is displayed on a screen of the computing device for processing at a point of sale terminal.
PAYMENT CARD TRANSACTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS WITH DYNAMIC GEO-TARGETED, INCENTIVE-BASED TRANSACTION AND DELIVERY MANAGEMENT
Electronic payment card processing systems and methods include at least one host computing device that accepts transaction data as payment card transactions are made and processed over the multi-party payment processing network. Based on the accepted transaction data, the host computing device identifies a first payment card transaction between a first enrolled cardholder and a first enrolled merchant that includes a delivery of a first good to a location that is within a predefined geographic area including the first enrolled merchant. The host computing device retrieves at least one incentive offer relating to a second enrolled merchant and involving a delivery of a second good within the predefined geographic area, and sends the at least one incentive offer to additional enrolled cardholders within the predefined geographic area.
Affiliate-Driven Benefits Matching System and Methods With Benefits Along Planned Route
Methods and systems for matching a consumer to benefits offered by enabling organizations provide flexibility and utility to consumers in the marketplace for various products. Information about benefits and enabling organizations are provided and stored in a memory of a computer system. A search query including consumer interest data of a consumer, or results of such a search query, are received. The enabling organization information, benefit information, and search query or information related to the search query results are analyzed automatically in the computer system to determine whether any enabling organization to which the consumer is affiliated is offering a benefit for the consumer that is applicable to the consumer interest data. Also determined may be one of: a display suppression window, whether benefits may be stacked together for use with a single purchase, and whether benefits are available at a venue within a predetermined distance of a planned route.
Remote transaction processing at a server with authentication after a product list
A method and system for conducting an online payment transaction through a mobile device. The method includes receiving input from a user selecting an item for purchase through the point of sale device; processing the transaction, and sending a digital artifact to the mobile device.
Remote transaction processing at a server with authentication before a product list
A method and system for conducting an online payment transaction through a point of sale device. The method includes receiving input from a user selecting an item for purchase through the point of sale device; calculating a total purchase amount for the item in response to a request from the user to purchase the item; and sending payment authorization for the total purchase amount from the point of sale device to a payment entity, in which the payment authorization is sent to the payment entity via a mobile communication device of the user. The method further includes receiving a result of the payment authorization from the payment entity through the mobile communication device; and completing the payment transaction based on the result of the payment authorization.
METHOD OF PROCESSING A GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE (GUI) DISPLAYED ON A TOUCH PANEL DISPLAY
An electronic receipt system generates, in association with a code of a shopper, electronic receipt information related to commodity sales data processing, stores the generated electronic receipt information in a storing unit, and stores additional information associated with commodity information and a specific condition in the storing unit. The electronic receipt system causes an information processing apparatus associated with the code of the shopper to display the electronic receipt information associated with the code and a selectable object for instructing a start of processing for the additional information related to the commodity information included in the electronic receipt information in a display unit. The electronic receipt system displays the electronic receipt information and displays. If the selectable object is operated, the electronic receipt system transmits a start signal for the processing for the additional information.
