Aspects of the technology evaluate whether a response to a client device search query results in the client device traveling to a location associated with the response (FIG. 1). One or more wireless stations are selected based on the location associated with the search query (604, 606). Wireless station identifiers are sent, along with the search results, to the client device (504, 610). The client device compares the received identifiers against the identifiers of one or more observed wireless stations with which the mobile device is in communication or are otherwise visible (508). Log information is generated by the client device as a result of the comparison (510). The log information is transmitted to the network without user ID or other client-identifiable information included in the log (512). The received log information is then used to accurately evaluate conversions and evaluate search quality, which enhances the user experience and provides for a more efficient search result process (612, 614).

An information processing apparatus extracts at least one store from a plurality of stores in accordance with an order in which degrees of safety for a target vehicle are ordered as starting from higher degrees of safety, by using information which indicates the degree of safety relevant to situations to be provided if a user visits the store and the user leaves the store by using the vehicle with respect to each of the plurality of stores belonging to a predetermined category; and provides, to the user who gets on the target vehicle, information which prompts the user to visit the at least one store.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, for defining and monitoring an event for a physical entity and the performance of an action in response to the occurrence of the event. A method includes receiving data indicating an event for a physical entity, the event specified in part by a physical environment feature for which the occurrence of the event is to be monitored by the data processing apparatus; receiving data indicating an action associated with the event and to be taken in response to the occurrence of the event; monitoring for the occurrence of the event for the physical entity; and in response to the occurrence of the event, causing the action associated with the event to be performed.

The present disclosure provides an information processing device capable of promoting to guide a user riding in a vehicle to a predetermined maintenance shop according to a state of the vehicle. The information processing device is provided with a controller which executes: obtaining predetermined service information including an advertisement; obtaining predetermined user information on a maintenance state of a vehicle in which the user rides; extracting, based on the user information, distribution information which is the service information about the predetermined maintenance shop, and which matches the user among the service information; and transmitting the distribution information to an on-board device of the vehicle based on position information of the vehicle.

The host may validate the commercial information, generate a reward, and provide the reward to the participant. The reward may be an offer for goods, services, or both offered by the host. The participant may accept the reward.

Systems and methods, and other embodiments, for processing in-store events regarding the location of a mobile device user are presented. Data regarding a plurality of physical stores is maintained, where the data comprises, for each of the plurality of physical stores, a web site comprising a plurality of web pages, each web page corresponding to a location with the physical store. While a mobile device user is within a physical store, in-store events regarding the mobile device user are repeatedly received. A corresponding implicit request for a web page corresponding to location information of the in-store events is generated and supplemental content from the web page, returned in response to the implicit request, is presented to the mobile device user.

Systems and methods are provided for implementing the exchange of electronic gift cards. A purchaser may purchase an electronic gift card and specify a recipient (400). The recipient may receive an initial notification of the gift (402), which excludes a portion of the gift description. The recipient may receive a supplemental notification (408) providing the excluded portion of the gift description, when the recipient's personal electronic device (130) detects the presence of a wireless beacon (120) within one or more redemption locations. The recipient may be prompted to accept or reject the gift (410), and/or to submit thank you content at the time of gift delivery (414), which may be relayed to the purchaser via direct messaging and/or social media. The wireless beacons (120) may also be utilized for providing personalized retailer services, and forming temporary micro dynamic virtual social communities (620, 621, 622).

A method includes receiving location reports indicating locations of mobile devices associated with users of an internet platform, registering a count for each location report, determining, for each location report received from a mobile device, a recent location report received from the mobile device indicating a previous location and registering a transition for each of a paired location report and recent location report, corresponding to a pair of locations. The method includes counting a number of transitions corresponding to a particular pair of locations and determining common transitions by comparing the number of transitions to a threshold value. The method includes comparing a location report received from a user's mobile device with location reports included in common transitions, and predicting, based on the comparison, a likelihood the user will arrive at a particular place within a particular time period or a likelihood that the user was at a particular place within a particular time before the current time.

A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors or ultracapacitors). To avoid theft and tampering of the portable electrical energy storage devices, by default, each portable electrical energy storage device is locked in and operably connected to the vehicle to which it provides power unless the vehicle comes within the vicinity of a collection, charging and distribution machine or other authorized external device such as that in a service center. Once within the vicinity of a collection, charging and distribution machine or other authorized external device a locking mechanism in the vehicle or within the portable electrical energy storage device unlocks and allows the portable electrical energy storage device to be exchanged or serviced.

Methods, computer-readable media, software, and apparatuses provide a system that may facilitate communications between drivers who share a route. The system may allow communications to be sent from one driver to another driver and allow drivers to post queries to other drivers sharing a route. Computing devices in the vehicle may collect route data for the system to evaluate and to use in identifying drivers sharing a route.
