A system and method for collecting, processing, storing, or transmitting traffic data. A localized data collection module may retrieve, receive, or intercept traffic data through or from hardware installed in a traffic control cabinet adjacent an intersection or other roadway feature of interest. Data which may have previously been confined to a closed loop traffic control system may be remotely accessible for traffic operations control or monitoring via a network connected server and/or cloud architecture.

A system and method for securing and verifying transmitted traffic data. A transmitter may send a transmission via a radio signal including traffic data through or from hardware installed in a traffic control cabinet adjacent an intersection or other roadway feature of interest. The transmission may be signed with a private key. A receiver associated with a vehicle may receive, in addition to the transmission, a public key (e.g., via a data network) for use in verification of the authenticity of the transmission.

A system and method for processing traffic data and locally generated data. A traffic signal monitoring device may be associated with a vehicle and configured to receive traffic data from traffic infrastructure devices. The traffic signal monitoring device may additionally or alternatively utilize local data (e.g., speed of the vehicle) to generate alerts to notify a driver of hazardous conditions or to suppress operations (e.g., notifications, menus) of a device to reduce distractions.

Disclosed are various embodiments of a vehicle projection system. Visual content is projected from a vehicle interior into a rear projection insert. The insert can include a semitransparent component to facilitate rear projection. The insert can also be perforated for enhanced visibility from the vehicle interior through the insert. A controller can change or modify the projected visual content based on operating conditions of the vehicle.

The configurations may also include the recognition of a unique set of gestures for the person. Further, the configuration can also include the tracking of health data related to the person.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a processing system including a processor and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, including detecting a vehicle, obtaining a demographic profile for an occupant of the vehicle, obtaining a directed advertisement for the vehicle based on the demographic profile of the occupant, generating a message for the vehicle based on the directed advertisement, and broadcasting the message to the vehicle, wherein an on-board device of the vehicle receives the message. Methods and systems are presented for accepting inputs into a vehicle or other conveyance to control functions of the conveyance. A vehicle control system can receive gestures and other inputs. The vehicle control system can also obtain information about the user of the vehicle control system and information about the environment in which the conveyance is operating. Based on the input and the other information, the vehicle control system can modify or improve the performance or execution of user interface and functions of the conveyance. The changes make the user interfaces and/or functions user-friendly and intuitive.
