A highlight transmission service allows users of communication devices to view highlights of sporting events while the sporting events are occurring without having to watch the sporting events. For example, a computer-implemented method may comprise:
determining that a highlight of a sporting event is to be conveyed to a communication device; and transmitting data regarding the highlight of the sporting event to the communication device over a network during the sporting event in order to allow a user of the communication device to view the highlight of the sporting event.
Press release distribution system
A press release distribution system provides press release and other news to forum sites as posts. The forum software that runs at forum sites includes press release interface software or is adapted to receive press release interface plug-in modules for interfacing with the press release distribution system. The press release interface software or plug-in module may also monitor and/or analyze user data of forum members and/or forum activities of the users. Disclosed are a portable electronic device, such as a smartphone with a touchscreen, and a method for displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) thereon. The GUI has a first area enabling a device user to interact with a display application designed to be unstoppable by the user, and a second area enabling the user to interact with other applications. The device executes three applications: the display application, a service, and a plugin. The display application displays data in the first area of the GUI—these data may include advertisements. The service uninstalls interfering applications, such as advertisement blockers; updates the three applications when new versions issue; and ensures that the display application and the plugin are always executing. The plugin ensures that the display application and the service are always executing. The three applications may execute using elevated permissions, to prevent them from being stopped or disabled.
Targeted television advertisements based on online behavior
In a method for delivering targeted television advertisements based on online behavior, IP addresses indicating online access devices and IP addresses indicating television set-top boxes are electronically associated for a multitude of users. Using user profile information derived from online activity from one of the online access IP addresses, a television advertisement is selected, such as by using behavioral targeting or demographic information, and automatically directed to the set-top box indicated by the set-top IP address associated with that online access IP address. Preferably neither the user profile information nor the electronic association of online access and set-top box IP addresses includes personally identifiable information.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEAR REAL-TIME LOOKALIKE AUDIENCE EXPANSION IN ADS TARGETING
A signature matrix is used to test each online event for inclusion of a user in a pre-generated lookalike audience. Locality Sensitive Hashing is used to compile the signature matrix to dramatically reduce memory storage requirements and processing time for each received online event. A technique of producing incremental signature matrices between generation of the full signature matrix helps to enable near-real time performance in processing each received event to see if a user associated with that event should be added to one of the lookalike audiences pre-generated by advertiser.
