System and Method for Personalized Preference Optimization
A system and method is provided for using biometric data from an individual to determine at least one emotion, mood, physical state, or mental state (“state”) of the individual, which is then used, either alone or together with other data, to provide the individual with certain web-based data. In one embodiment of the present invention, a Web host is in communication with at least one network device, where each network device is operated by an individual and is configured to communicate biometric data of the individual to the Web host. The Web host is then configured to use the biometric data to determine at least one state of the individual. The determined state, either alone or together with other data (e.g., interest data), is then used to provide the individual with certain content (e.g., web-based data) or to perform a particular action.
Machine learning for digital image selection across object variations
Digital image selection techniques are described that employ machine learning to select a digital image of an object from a plurality of digital images of the object. The plurality of digital images each capture the object for inclusion as part of generating digital content, e.g., a webpage, a thumbnail to represent a digital video, and so on. In one example, digital image selection techniques are described that employ machine learning to select a digital image of an object from a plurality of digital images of the object. As a result, the service provider system may select a digital image of an object from a plurality of digital images of the object that has an increased likelihood of achieving a desired outcome and may address the multitude of different ways in which an object may be presented to a user.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUTOMATICALLY IDENTIFYING A USER PREFERENCE FOR A PARTICIPANT FROM A COMPETITION EVENT
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining a preference of a user for or against a participant of an event when a media asset relating to the event is being played based on monitoring user reactions to the event. Specifically, the media guidance application may detect a change of at least one of the biometric state (e.g., pulse rate, blood pressure, etc.) and physiological state (e.g., facial expression, gesture, body movement, etc.) with a user. The media guidance application may determine that an event has occurred within the sporting event that triggered the change. The media guidance application may determine that the user favors the first participant over the second participant, if the user reacts positively towards a score for the first participant in the event.
MARKETING INFERENCE ENGINE AND METHOD THEREFOR
A marketing inference engine determines prospective clients, drawn from a population of users, for a commodity. A set of relevant consumer traits is conjectured or determined from data relevant to prior clients of the commodity. Massive data characterizing the population is analysed to determine a superset of user communities of the population of users, each community corresponding to a respective trait of a predefined superset of traits. A set of primary communities, corresponding to the set of relevant consumer traits, is selected from the superset of communities. A set of secondary communities, each determined to have a significant kinship to the set of primary communities, is selected from the superset of communities. A set of primary prospective clients is determined from the primary communities. An expanded set of prospective clients is determined from both the primary communities and the secondary communities.
SHOPPING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A shopping system (102) for facilitating shopping of customers from retailers is provided herein. The shopping system (102) includes a shopping list module (202) configured to enable a plurality of customers to create their shopping list having a plurality of items. The shopping system (102) further includes a retail module (204) configured to enable a plurality of retailers to provide a dynamic pricing and promotions for items in the shopping list. The shopping system (102) further includes a cart module (206) configured to enable the plurality of customers to choose a retailer based upon the pricing, and book a cart with the retailer.
MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES FOR ASSOCIATING NETWORK ADDRESSES WITH INFORMATION OBJECT ACCESS LOCATIONS
Disclosed embodiments includes a network classification system (NCS) that generates a set of machine learning (ML) features from information about information objects accessed by various users, and determines an organization (org) type associated with the network address based on the set of ML features. Obtained network events may include the information about the accessed information objects. A content consumption monitor (CCM) generates consumption scores for the network addresses based on the identified org types. The CCM can generate more accurate intent and consumption data by filtering out events unrelated to content consumption for that org type. The NCS and the CCM may be implemented as the same network function, or the NCS and CCM may be implemented as separate network functions. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
Annotating and transmitting audio content items
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, are described for providing content. A method includes: transmitting an audio content item that is presented to a user of a personal digital assistant through a speaker; receiving digital information that includes spoken information that was submitted through the personal digital assistant by the user and converted into the digital information, the received digital information including data specifying one or more other users with which the audio content item is to be shared; annotating the audio content item with an annotation including at least some of the digital information and data specifying that the user is the source of the annotation; and transmitting the audio content item and the annotation to the one or more other users with which the audio content is to be shared as specified by the digital information.
Method and apparatus for determining context-aware similarity
An approach is provided for determining the context-aware similarity between applications. A similarity platform processes one or more context logs associated with one or more devices to determine one or more context intents. The similarity platform further determines one or more distributions of one or more applications executed at the one or more devices with respect to the one or more context intents. The similarity platform also determines a context-aware similarity between two or more applications based, at least in part, on the one or more application distributions.
Cross-device geolocation sensing to geotarget offers
Provided is a process of distributing offers to non-location-sensing devices based on a geolocation sensed by another device, the process comprising: obtaining a geolocation of a user from a mobile device of the user; associating the geolocation of the user with an identifier of the user in an offers engine; receiving a request for an offer from another computing device of the user, the request including or prompting obtaining data from the other computing device sufficient to identify the user; retrieving the geolocation of the user obtained from the mobile device by identifying the user with the data from the other computing device sufficient to identify the user account; selecting, with the offers engine, a responsive offer based on the geolocation of the user obtained from the mobile device; and sending the responsive offer to the other computing device of the user.
Extending mobile applications to the lock screen of a mobile device
Methods, configured mobile devices, and computer-readable media for displaying content on mobile devices are disclosed. An exemplary method for displaying content on a mobile device includes steps for receiving a first content request provided by a native app executing on one or more processors of a mobile device; computing a priority of the native app to display app content on a lock screen of the mobile device; and in the event that the native app has higher priority than other requesting apps to display app content on the lock screen of the mobile device, transmitting a second content request to a content server; receiving app content from the content server in response to the second content request; and displaying the app content on the lock screen of the mobile device. In an alternative method, in the event that the native app has higher priority than other requesting apps to display app content on the lock screen of the mobile device, a method comprises obtaining app content from the native app; and displaying the app content on the lock screen of the mobile device.
