System for synthesizing data
During a training phase, a first machine learning system is trained using actual data, such as multimodal images of a hand, to generate synthetic image data. During training, the first system determines latent vector spaces associated with identity, appearance, and so forth. During a generation phase, latent vectors from the latent vector spaces are generated and used as input to the first machine learning system to generate candidate synthetic image data. The candidate image data is assessed to determine suitability for inclusion into a set of synthetic image data that may be used for subsequent use in training a second machine learning system to recognize an identity of a hand presented by a user. For example, the candidate synthetic image data is compared to previously generated synthetic image data to avoid duplicative synthetic identities. The second machine learning system is then trained using the approved candidate synthetic image data.
Light source, optical device, measuring device, robot, electronic apparatus, movable structure, and manufacturing apparatus
According to one embodiment, a light source includes a plurality of light-emitting elements each including one or more surface-emitting lasers; and a plurality of detecting elements located on a same substrate as the light-emitting elements. The detecting elements individually detect quantities of output light of the light-emitting elements.

DEPTH MEASUREMENT THROUGH DISPLAY
Disclosed herein is a display device including an illumination source for projecting an illumination pattern including a plurality of illumination features on a scene; an optical sensor for determining a first image including a plurality of reflection features; a translucent display, where the illumination source and the optical sensor are placed in a direction of propagation of the illumination pattern in front of the display; and an evaluation device configured for evaluating the first image by identifying and sorting the reflection features with respect to brightness, each reflection feature including a beam profile, determining a longitudinal coordinate for each reflection feature by analyzing their beam profiles,
unambiguously matching reflection features with corresponding illumination features using the longitudinal coordinate classifying a reflection feature as a real feature or a false feature, rejecting the false features, and generating a depth map for the real features using the longitudinal coordinate.
BACKLIGHT MODULE, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY SCREEN, AND USING METHOD THEREOF
In a backlight module, a liquid crystal display screen, and a using method thereof provided, the liquid crystal display screen includes a liquid crystal display panel, a backlight module switchable between a transparent state and a backlight state, and an optical component. Without disrupting full screen display and increasing a possibility of cellphone damages, the backlight module may solve a problem that the liquid crystal display screen is opaque to light, such that the screen is normally displayed, and the optical component is operated on the same liquid crystal display screen.

LIGHTING MODULE FOR A SIDE PORTION OF A VEHICLE
A lighting device for a motor vehicle includes a housing having a front lighting surface, and a substantially planar plate and at least one lighting module mounted on the plate. The plate has a general plane of extension that is horizontal when the housing is mounted in the vehicle, and has a surface referred to as a lower surface and a surface referred to as an upper surface. The plate includes a first control system which includes a first male element and is arranged to cause translation of the first male element in an axis parallel to the plate, the plate being provided with a first recess receiving the first male element. A second control system that includes a second male element and is arranged to cause translation of the second male element in an axis perpendicular to the plate, the plate being provided with a second recess on its upper or lower surface that receives the second male element. The housing thus takes up less space above the modules, which can easily be raised.
