Air fluidized therapy bed having pulmonary therapy

A patient support apparatus includes an air supply and an air fluidization therapy bed including a fluidization space and a fluidizable medium positioned in the fluidization space. The air fluidization therapy bed receives a flow of pressurized air from the air supply. The flow of pressurized air operable to fluidize the fluidizable medium. The patient support apparatus is configured to provide other therapies, such as pulmonary therapies, in addition to the air fluidization therapy.

A system for preventing and treating pressure sores of a bed-ridden patient including an array of expandable and collapsible supports to support and provide pressure relief to a patient in pressure locations where the expandable and collapsible supports support the patient; pressure sensors associated with the expandable and collapsible supports to monitor pressure locations where the expandable and collapsible supports support the patient; and a patient lift movable between the expandable and collapsible supports to raise and lower the patient between at least a position where the patient is primarily supported by the array of expandable and collapsible supports and a position above the expandable and collapsible supports where the patient is primarily supported by the patient lift.

Patient positioning apparatus and mattress

A patient positioning apparatus for use with a mattress has a first lateral tilt bladder and a third lateral tilt bladder underlying a first side of the mattress, and a second lateral tilt bladder and a fourth lateral tilt bladder underlying a second side of the mattress. The tilt bladders are inflatable to alter the position of a patient lying on the mattress, and inflation and/or deflation of the lateral tilt bladders is controllable by a controller. A first check valve allows fluid communication in one direction from the third lateral tilt bladder to the first lateral tilt bladder, and a second check valve allows fluid communication in one direction from the fourth lateral tilt bladder to the second lateral tilt bladder.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR POSITIONING A PATIENT IN A BED

A system for repositioning a patient in a bed includes an overlay that is positioned between the patient and the bed mattress. The overlay is wound around a roller that rotates to pull the overlay and the patient to a more upright position on the bed after the patient has slid down the bed. The roller is rotated either manually by a crank or automatically by a motor that is operable using a switch and/or a plurality of sensors.

A system such as a hospital bed provides capability to monitor and alleviate the pressure points and provides oxygen and water jets to prevent and treat bed sores in bed-ridden patients. An array of balloons touching each other form a mattress of unstitched but contiguous balloons like in a conventional mattress with stitched puffs. Individual pressure sensors placed within each balloon measure and monitor pressure. Furthermore, horizontal rods which lay between the balloons perform oxygenation and provide water massage to the back of the patient body from the interstitial spaces within the unstitched mattress of contiguous balloons. The rods are elevated to raise the patient above the mattress to relieve overall pressure and enable cleaning and wipe down of the back of the patient body. The rods can elevate the entire patient body or its torso alone or the lower extremities alone to clean as desired.

Portable Cushion and Method of Use

A seating system for a chair in the form of a deflatable cushion. The two-inch-thick cushion, divided into nine rectangular sections, will have an open-end casing comprised of viscoelastic foam. The air compressor, connected to the battery power source, shoots pressurized gas into a check valve and then into branched rubber tubing's. The sequence of deflation is as follows: pressurized gas passes through the air compressor's plastic compartment, which encases antibacterial liquid that the gas can pass through before entering the check valve. Having exited the air compressor and entered the check valve, the valve will regulate the flow of air to the cushion based on synchronization with the compressor and electronic feedback from the application or manual control. Having entered the check valve, the pressurized, sanitary gas enters the rubber tubing's and the porous rubber tubes' eight subsections. This will cause deflation of the cushion. In addition, a heat sensor will be on the top-layer of the cushion and it can be linked to a computer for the user to monitor which areas of contact are too high in heat.

Multi-layer sleeping pad

A multi-layer sleeping pad, which includes an outer air cushion, an inner air cushion and a first cushion pad. The outer air cushion is provided with a first cavity. The inner air cushion is arranged in the first cavity. The first cushion pad is arranged between an inner top of the outer air cushion and an outer top of the inner air cushion.

PATIENT/INVALID HANDLING SUPPORT

A patient support for supporting a patient includes an inflatable mattress defining a support surface and a pneumatic system for inflating the inflatable mattress. The pneumatic system includes a pressurized reservoir for holding pressurized air and selectively releases pressurized air from the reservoir to the mattress.
