A system for recording vehicle occupants and their immediate environment includes a driver-facing camera that has a plurality of recording modes, an input that receives driver-related data, and a processor that determines a driver position based on the detected driver-related data, and alters the recording mode of the driver-facing camera in response to the determined driver position.

A control device for a recorder in an associated vehicle includes a processor and an input port operatively coupled with the processor. The input port receives a parking brake status signal comprising parking brake data representative of a parking brake status. A non-transient memory device is operatively coupled with the processor. The non-transient memory device stores parking brake status data representative of whether the parking brake is engaged. Control logic stored in the non-transient memory device is executable by the processor to: determine a parking brake status as engaged based on the parking brake data. An output port is operatively coupled with the processor. The output port transmits a recording control signal enabling the recording based on the determined parking brake status.

A system for controlling power distribution within a vehicular communication network, including a power source equipment comprising a first port in communication with a network node module of a device, and a Power over Ethernet (POE) management module. A recording device according to an embodiment includes an imaging data acquisition unit configured to acquire imaging data including video data and audio data, an event detection unit configured to detect occurrence of an event; and a recording control unit configured to record first imaging data including the video data and the audio data in a recording unit when recording of the imaging data in the recording unit is caused by the event detected by the event detection unit, and record second imaging data including the video data and not including the audio data in the recording unit when recording of the imaging data in the recording unit is not caused by the event.
