A method of operating an access system for a vehicle, the method comprising: 5 scanning for a first communication signal from a first communications device using a first communication channel; and initiating a vehicle access process in dependence on detecting the first communication signal from the first communications device; wherein the vehicle access process comprises: comparing a received signal strength indication, RSSI, of the received first communication signal to a predetermined 10 threshold signal strength value; sending a challenge signal for a second communications device using a second communication channel in the event that the RSSI of the received first communication signal exceeds the threshold signal strength value; and controlling the vehicle access system in dependence on a response signal received from the second communications device, the response signal having been 15 sent in response to the challenge signal.

A method and system for detecting if a relay is present in a PEPS system for a vehicle is disclosed which includes (a) transmitting a challenge signal including an LF telegram and CW signals from one or more antennas associated with a vehicle to a key fob, the CW signals being measured by the key fob; (b) determining if the CW signals measured by the key fob meet one or more criteria based on the predetermined differences in the magnetic field distribution between: (i) the magnetic field strength values associated with one or more antennas on the vehicle within the PEPS operating regions; and (ii) the magnetic field strength values associated with one or more antennas on the vehicle at the relay transmitter location when a relay is present.

The disclosure generally relates to a system and method for managing distributed encrypted combination over-locks from a remote location. The mobile application and the at least one computing device can cause the vehicle theft-prevention apparatus to change from an unarmed mode to an armed mode.

A process for granting or denying a user access to a system using biometrics is disclosed. The process includes receiving a unique identifier for the system, receiving a unique identifier associated with the user, and verifying that the user is authorized to access the system. A passcode is transmitted to the device in the possession of the user, and a speech sample of the user speaking the passcode is returned. One or more attributes of the speech sample is compared with one or more attributes that are expected to be in a speech sample. Access is granted or denied based upon a correlation between the file's actual attributes and the predicted attributes.

An electronic key system is provided with: an electronic key issuing apparatus configured to issue an electronic key associated with a moving body; a determinator configured to determine whether or not an electronic key with a first key code as the electronic key is normal; and a requester configured to request the electronic key issuing apparatus to reissue the electronic key on condition that it is determined by the determinator that the electronic key with the first key code is not normal. An information processing apparatus includes a processor and a memory. The memory is in communication with the processor, where the memory stores computer-readable instructions that are executed by the processor. The processor performs operations including storing, in association with each other, vehicle position information with which a vehicle is identified, and parcel receipt information with which the vehicle is specified instead of an address or a name. The operations further include specifying the vehicle based on the parcel receipt information. The operations further include acquiring authentication information with which the vehicle is unlocked. The operations further include sending the authentication information to a device.

Locking systems and devices and methods for using the systems and devices are provided. A locking system may include a receptacle having a lock and an electronic credential.
