SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REPOSITIONING A PATIENT
System, devices, and methods for repositioning a patient from a first surface to a second surface are disclosed herein. An exemplary system can include a housing, a cartridge removably coupled to the housing, and a transfer sheet. The cartridge includes a first roller rotatably mounted along a first axis and a second roller rotatably mounted along a second axis parallel to the first axis. The transfer sheet includes a first end portion coupled to the first roller and a second end portion coupled to the second roller. The transfer sheet has a fold defining a top layer between the fold and the first end portion and a bottom layer between the fold and the second end portion. The top layer is configured to contact the patient, and the bottom layer is configured to contact the first surface and the second surface.
TRANSFER DEVICE WITH PLATFORM PLATE HAVING TWO-SIDED FUNCTIONALITY AND TREATMENT SYSTEM
Disclosed is a transfer device having a device body, a transfer platform including a platform plate, and a platform lateral actuator. The platform lateral actuator is configured to selectively move the platform plate laterally relative to the device body, such that the platform plate can be moved between a plurality of positions including (i) a stowed position in which the platform plate is retracted relative to the device body, (ii) a first extended position in which a first transverse edge of the platform plate is a leading edge that extends outward from a first side of the device body, and (iii) a second extended position in which a second transverse edge of the platform plate is a leading edge that extends outward from a second side of the device body. The transfer device also a treatment system configured to apply a cleaning and/or disinfecting treatment.
Apparatus and system for turning and positioning a patient
A system for use with a bed having a frame and a supporting surface includes a sheet having a bottom surface placed above the supporting surface of the bed, a top surface, and a plurality of tether straps connected to and extending from the sheet. Each tether strap is configured for connection to the bed. The bottom surface is at least partially formed of a low friction material, and the top surface is at least partially formed of a high friction material, such that the top surface provides greater slipping resistance than the bottom surface. The tether straps include at least two pairs of tether straps, with one pair connected proximate a top edge of the sheet and another pair connected proximate a bottom edge of the sheet. The sheet may further include a sliding member on the bottom surface to assist in lateral sliding of the sheet.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MOVING, TURNING, AND POSITIONING A PATIENT
An apparatus including a sheet having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first lateral side, and a second lateral side. The sheet further includes a first strap coupled to the sheet proximate the first lateral side, a second strap coupled to the sheet proximate the second lateral side, and longitudinally offset from the first strap, and an opening in the sheet providing a passage between the top surface and the bottom surface of the sheet.
Z-shape sliding board utilizing gravity-assistance for patient lateral transfer
The present invention provides an apparatus and method for lateral transfer of patient between two platforms. In particular the invention provides an apparatus for lateral transfer of patient that facilitates gravity assisted transfer of patient with low effort and high protection from injury. The invention comprise a curved board for gravity assisted lateral transfer of patient comprising a top surface and a bottom surface having rectangular holes punched at the ends of the curved board. The curved board comprise of an elevated portion, a middle slanted portion, and a lower portion wherein the elevated portion is substantially raised relatively to the lower portion. In an embodiment of the present invention, the elevated portion of the curved board can be configured to shove beneath the bed sheet and the lower portion of the curved board can rest on flat surface of the adjacent low levelled second flat surface thus facilitating gravity assisted lateral transfer of patient which is performed by nurses by gently sliding the patient from the elevated surface to the lower surface via the slanted surface on the z-shaped curved board.
Systems and methods for supporting and stabilizing a patient during hip distraction
A method for hip distraction includes positioning a patient on a slide-resisting pad placed on a surgical table; tilting the surgical table so that the patient is in a first degree of inclination; applying a distraction force to a leg of the patient while the patient is in the first degree of inclination so that a hip joint of the patient is distracted, wherein the distraction force is opposed by a combination of a slide-resisting friction force provided by the slide-resisting pad and a gravitational force attributable to the first degree of inclination; reducing the tilt of the surgical table in accordance with a reduction of the distraction force over time so that the patient is in a second degree of inclination; and performing at least a portion of a surgical procedure on the distracted hip joint while the patient is in the second degree of inclination.
Patient puller
A pulling mechanism using a motor, and a rolling tube or rod of sufficient strength to pull a patient lying on a sheet on the bed is provided to move patients up the bed with little manual effort. In most hospitals and care facilities a common problem is that patients tend to slip down the beds causing discomfort for the patient. Patients have to be moved-up to comfortable position on the bed. Currently this is done manually by two nursing staff one on either side of the bed, with the patient on a slide sheet and pulling the patient manually up using the slide sheet. This simple but strenuous operation has been the cause of back problems for many nursing staff. The current invention is a way to reduce or eliminate this injury to nursing staff by mechanizing the pull-up operation.
Apparatus and method for reorienting a person between a supine position and a prone position
An apparatus for reorienting a person includes a wrap having a first lateral portion and a second lateral portion, the first lateral portion and the second lateral portion being releasably securable to one another along an anterior region of the wrap between lateral sides of the person and along a posterior region of the wrap between the lateral sides of the person via a set of fasteners. Each of the lateral portions are dimensioned to extend around a corresponding one of the lateral sides of the person and having anterior and posterior edges that are dimensioned to extend at most partway across to an opposite one of the lateral sides of the person. The wrap is made from flexible materials and dimensioned to extend at least from below knees of the person to above the elbows of the person and snugly retain the person therein.
Patient puller
A mechanism using a motor, and a rolling tube or rod of sufficient strength to apply a pull force on one side of a sheet on the bed with the patient lying on the sheet is provided to help turn patients on his side with little manual effort. Patients having mobility issues under care in homes, nursing-homes or hospitals have to be turned on their sides often to reduce formation of bed sores among other reasons. Currently this is done manually by nurses or caregivers turning the patient by pulling up on one side of the sheet to turn the patient on his side. This simple but strenuous operation has been the cause of back problems for many caregivers. The current invention is a way to reduce or eliminate this injury to caregivers by providing a mechanized help for the patient turning operation.
Patient Transfer Device
A patient transfer device for transferring a patient placed on a movable sheet from a first surface to a receiving surface, said patient transfer device including first and second laterally spaced apart retractable pulling members, at least one motor operatively connected to the pulling members so as to allow retraction of the pulling members by means of the motor, where the pulling members comprise a bobbin and a wire, where the patient transfer device comprises an absorbent member removably arranged around the wire. Accordingly, the wire may be cleaned in a reliable manner.
