In one example, a merchandise security system includes a plurality of security devices, wherein each of the security devices includes a sensor configured to be attached to an article of merchandise. The system also includes at least one controller configured to communicate with each of the articles of merchandise in order to obtain data from the articles of merchandise. The controller and/or each of the security devices is configured to configured to generate a security signal in response to removal of the sensor from the article of merchandise.
Anti-theft doorbell camera
In some embodiments, security and/or automation systems, collectively referred to as automation system, may provide deterrents to the illicit acquisition of a device unique to the automation system. The system may enable a device to self-detect when the device is either stolen and/or the potential victim of hacking. The automation system may implement several solutions to help prevent tampering with its devices. The solutions may help prevent the physical acquisition of a device or may aid in the recovery of the device. The solutions may additionally include programming the device to automatically detect when the device is being hacked and/or misappropriated.
Systems and methods for detecting thermal runaway of a battery
Disclosed herein are a methods and system for monitoring battery temperature and providing alerts when temperatures are abnormal, comprising: wirelessly receiving temperature measurement data from a single monobloc or a plurality of monoblocs that are electrically connected in series or parallel, wherein a temperature measurement data represent the temperatures inside each of said plurality of monoblocs; calculating a temperature value, T.sub.PDAVE, equal to an average of the temperature measurement data wirelessly received from all the plurality of monoblocs in a battery; calculating a high temperature difference, T.sub.PDH, as an absolute value of the difference between the highest monobloc temperature in the battery and the T.sub.PDAVE; calculating a low temperature difference, T.sub.PDL, as an absolute value of the difference between the lowest monobloc temperature in the battery and the T.sub.PDAVE; and establishing an alert when the T.sub.PDH is greater than a predetermined high temperature threshold.
Systems and methods for detecting battery theft
Described herein are method and systems for detecting an unauthorized removal of a battery. The system comprising: a battery monitor circuit attached to or embedded in the battery; a remote device, wherein the remote device stores instructions that when executed on the remote device cause the remote device to perform operations comprising: receiving, at the remote device, a wireless signal from the battery monitor circuit comprising voltage and temperature data; evaluating, by the remote device, whether the battery is in its expected location by confirming for each battery, which is expected to be present, whether there has been an unexpected interruption in the wireless signal from the battery; providing an alert notification when there has been an unexpected interruption in the wireless signal.
Merchandise security system including retractable alarming power cord
A merchandise security system for an electronic item of merchandise is provided. In one example, the merchandise security system includes a continuous alarming power cord comprising at least one electrical conductor. The alarming power cord has a first end adapted to be electrically connected to the electronic item of merchandise and a second end. The merchandise security system also includes a reel for receiving the second end of the alarming power cord and adapted for storing at least a portion of the alarming power cord thereon. In addition, the merchandise security system includes monitoring circuitry in electrical communication with the alarming power cord and configured to detect an interruption in an electrical signal provided to the alarming power cord.
Activation of security mechanisms through accelerometer-based dead reckoning
A system and method for activating security mechanisms based at least in part on accelerometer-based dead reckoning wherein accelerometer data, reflecting acceleration in a local coordinate system of a device, is obtained from an accelerometer of a device. Movement of the device is determined based at least in part on the accelerometer data, and, based at least in part on whether the movement of the device exceeds a threshold value, a determination is made whether to change a current security state of the device. If it is determined to change the current security state of the device, the current security state of the device is changed to a new security state.
Battery operated device and tag for a battery operated tool
A device tag including a housing that includes a first connector structure constructed and arranged to engage with a battery operated device and a second connector structure constructed and arranged to slidingly engage with a battery such that the device tag is provided between the battery operated device and the battery. The device tag also includes an electrical connector carried by the housing and constructed and arranged to provide an electrical connection between the battery operated device and the battery. The device tag further includes an electronic device carried by the housing and constructed and arranged to transmit electrical signals.
SECURITY CONNECTOR
In one example, the connector includes a body portion configured to be connected to a cord and a connection portion engaged with the body portion and comprising a plurality of conductors. The connection portion includes a conductive shield electrically connected to a plurality of the conductors when the connection portion is not engaged with the article of merchandise, and the connection portion also includes at least one ground conductor that is not electrically connected to the remaining conductors and/or the conductive shield when the connection portion is not engaged with the article of merchandise. At least one of the conductors and/or the conductive shield is configured to cooperate with the ground conductor to define a sense loop when the connector is engaged with the article of merchandise, and interruption of the sense loop is indicative of a security event.
