Patient lift system with component compatibility features
Patient lift systems and lift accessories for the same are disclosed. In one example, a system may include a rail having a carriage support channel formed in the rail, the channel having a width, the rail has a working load rating; a carriage slidably disposed in the rail for relative movement to the rail, the carriage comprising a shaft having a length; and a lift unit coupled to the carriage and operable to raise and lower a lifting strap, wherein the lift unit has a working load rating; wherein the length of the shaft of the carriage is less than the width of the channel when the working load rating of the lift unit is equal to or less than the working load rating of the rail. In this manner, lift units that are incompatible with the working load rating of the rail cannot be connected with the rail.
SLING BARS FOR LIFTING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATING SLING BARS
A sling bar includes a bar extending between a first end and a second end, and a sling attachment member positioned at at least one of the first end and the second end, the sling attachment member including a bar attachment portion coupled to the bar, a lift hook extending outward from the bar attachment portion, the lift hook defining an upward-facing opening, and a latch member pivotally coupled to one of the bar attachment portion or the lift hook, where the latch member is repositionable between a closed position, in which the latch member extends across the upward-facing opening and engages the other of the lift hook or the bar attachment portion, and an open position, in which the latch member is spaced apart from the upward-facing opening and the other of the lift hook or the bar attachment portion.
Apparatus and method for reorienting a person between a supine position and a prone position
An apparatus for reorienting a person includes a wrap having a first lateral portion and a second lateral portion, the first lateral portion and the second lateral portion being releasably securable to one another along an anterior region of the wrap between lateral sides of the person and along a posterior region of the wrap between the lateral sides of the person via a set of fasteners. Each of the lateral portions are dimensioned to extend around a corresponding one of the lateral sides of the person and having anterior and posterior edges that are dimensioned to extend at most partway across to an opposite one of the lateral sides of the person. The wrap is made from flexible materials and dimensioned to extend at least from below knees of the person to above the elbows of the person and snugly retain the person therein.
ATTACHMENT MEMBERS FOR A SLINGBAR COMPONENT OF A LIFT SYSTEM
A slingbar includes a sling attachment member. The sling attachment member includes a frame including a base having a top end and a bottom end, and a hook extending from the bottom end to a hook terminus. The hook terminus and the top end of the base define an opening. The hook, base, and opening bound an interior of the attachment member. A closure element includes an outboard gate hinged to the hook terminus and an inboard gate hinged to the base. The gates have a default state in which each gate extends laterally only part way across the opening.
CLIP
A clip (101) for use with a hoist comprising a stud (401) having a shaft and a head. The clip (101) comprises a body (102), an aperture (106) provided in the body (102), and engaging means (109) connected to the body (102) and operable to move from an extended position to a retracted position as the shaft of the stud (401) is moved within the aperture (106) from one to the other of a first portion (107) configured to allow passage of the head of the stud of the hoist therethrough and a second portion (108) configured to prevent passage of the head of the stud of the hoist therethrough. The engaging means (109) is resiliently biased towards the extended position and is moved from an unstressed condition to a stressed condition when moved from the extended position to the retracted position. Hoist apparatus comprising the clip (101).
BED MOBILITY ASSISTANCE DEVICE AND METHOD
A bed mobility assistance device is disclosed herein. The bed mobility assistance device includes a circumferential hand grip configured to be graspable by the user, the circumferential hand grip including an elongated flexible strap having a frictional outer surface, a length sufficient to encircle a bed mattress, a two-part buckle configured to form a closed loop portion within the elongated flexible strap, the closed loop portion arrangeable circumferentially about the bed mattress, and a cinch configured to cinch the closed loop portion about the bed mattress to place the frictional outer surface of the elongated flexible strap in positions of contact with a top surface, a bottom surface, and a perimeter wall of the bed mattress. The bed mobility assistance device is useful for assisting a user self-adjust their body position on the bed mattress.
Traction device
Example traction devices, systems and methods for use thereof are provided. An example traction device may include (a) a frame comprising a top support having first and second ends, where the first end of the top support is coupled to a first vertical support and the second end of the top support is coupled to a second vertical support and (b) a balance bar moveably coupled to the top support via a wire, where opposing ends of the balance bar are each coupled to an attachment ring or define a receptacle.
Gait Belt
A gait belt for lifting and transferring patients including a generally elongated, wide belt body with two free ends, a belt strap connected to the belt body to secure the belt to the patient's waist, belt strap extensions configurable as both a belt body closure and as thigh supports, and multiple lifting handles affixed to the belt.
SUBJECT SUPPORT APPARATUSES
A sling including a body support substrate having a subject support surface on a first side of the body support substrate and an outer surface on a second side of the body support substrate opposite the first side. The subject support surface and the outer surface are separated by a thickness t of the body support substrate. The body support substrate is formed from a cellulose-based, or paper, material. Methods of lifting a subject using the sling are also disclosed.
Evacu zip and carry strap with clamp
An Evacu Zip and Carry Strap with Clamp device has a body generally rectangular in shape with a chest merging to a neck that widens to a shoulder. From the shoulder, a cover and a spaced below lower jaw extend opposite the neck. Beneath the cover, an upper jaw pivots upon a pin to mutually engage teeth with teeth upon the lower jaw. A knob joined to a shaft advances a rod to move the upper jaw from an open position to a closed position. In the closed position, the device grips a pillowtop or other material for rapid conversion of it into a stretcher for evacuation. The knob to turns towards counterclockwise for closing the upper jaw to the lower jaw. The invention also includes a strap extending from the chest. An alternate embodiment includes lighting directed towards the two jaws.
