The present application discloses a pickup apparatus for a musical instrument, configured to improve sound quality of a musical instrument to a greatest possible degree, obtained by a piezoelectric element. The pickup apparatus, for the musical instrument, to be fixed to the musical instrument, includes: a disc-shaped piezoelectric element; a couple of circular members receiving interposition of the piezoelectric element therebetween; and leg portions being arranged on a surface of any one of the couple of circular members, each circular member having protrusions formed protrusively toward the other circular member in two positions along a peripheral edge of an opposite surface in a face-to-face relationship with the other circular member, the piezoelectric element being supported within an air gap formed by the protrusions between the couple of circular members in a state of the piezoelectric element being interposed between the protrusions possessed by the respective circular wood members.

An interchangeable pickup support is for a stringed musical instrument. The support is of the type that includes at least a base body provided with an attachment to a stringed musical instrument and a support for supporting and attaching the pickup to the base body. The attachment includes at least a fastener which is movable by an actuator which is rigidly connected to the fastener, the ends of which are configured to project in part through respective holes arranged on the outer surface of the base body and attached to the stringed musical instrument. The base body also includes at least a retainer for the fastener in the attachment to the stringed musical instrument.

In one embodiment, a pickup system includes at least two pickups, each pickup including a pickup housing and a bottom surface, the pickup housing having sides comprising at least a top wall, each pickup including an electromechanical transducer surrounded by a solid non-conductive material and located the same distance from the top wall and the bottom surface, and each pickup including adhesive on one of the sides of the pickup housing configured to mount the pickup to the underside of the soundboard of an acoustic stringed instrument.

A pickup comprises a mounting component having a mounting plate, a first contact and a second contact. The pickup also has a coil component including a primary flatwork member, a secondary flatwork member, a pole therebetween, and a coil of wire wrapped around the pole. A magnet cooperates with the pole. A first coil end is electrically connected to a first coil component contact, and a second coil end is electrically connected to a second coil component contact. When assembled, the first coil component contact electrically couples to a select one of the first contact and the second contact of the mounting member regardless of the orientation of the coil component relative to the mounting plate.
